brossura Il canto nuovo è proprio degli uomini generati a vita nuova nel battesimo. L'eucaristia, culmine della vita cristiana, è il tempo più propizio per la lode. Nella celebrazione eucaristica si canta la stessa celebrazione, perché essa è eucaristia fatta canto. Questo sussidio vuole essere un contributo per chi ama ben celebrare, per chi svolge il ministero del canto liturgico, per chi desidera mettersi a servizio della liturgia per imparare da essa l'arte del servizio musicale. Attraverso le indicazioni della Chiesa sul canto liturgico, vengono ripercorsi i momenti rituali di cui è costituita la messa, favorendo la loro comprensione teologica e suggerendo le modalità esecutive in canto per ogni momento liturgico. È un sussidio destinato a chi si lascia edificare dal canto liturgico e chi, per mezzo del canto liturgico, edifica la Chiesa, la splendida casa di Dio.

Dedicato a Urbano VIII Barberini, con occhiello, antiporta frontespizio , stampato in rosso e nero. Nel testo numerose incisioni su rame raffiguranti svariate tipologie di lumi e lucerne ad olio di varie epoche, oltre a strumenti tipo piccoli imbuti per il riempimento di questi, a candelabri ebraici e a monete. 2. Dedicato al Cardinale Francesco Barberini, numerose illustrazioni su legno nel testo che rappresentano oggetti cultuali ebraici, cristiani e pagani. 3. Dedicato al Cardinale Antonio Barberini, in cui si tratta diffusamente delle cerimonie pubbliche israelitiche, le adorazioni e le acclamazioni. Fortunato Scacchi, dotto filologo e antiquario, nacque intorno al 1573 a Fano, dove morì nel 1643. La sua opera più importante è proprio la presente, un trattato di profonda erudizione, in cui l’autore raccoglie le notizie e i dati storici sugli aromi impiegati dagli ebrei antichi negli unguenti e nei profumi e sulla loro composizione e utilizzo nelle cerimonie sacre. Il testo è ricco di riferimenti ai libri dell’Antico Testamento e a quelli degli autori del mondo greco e romano antico, ma anche all’Arca Santa e alla ‘menorah’ e alle suppellettili per il culto divino. Scacchi parla di ogni sorta di unzione menzionata nelle Sacre Scritture, dalle lampade degli antichi, all’imbalsamazione, ai bagni. Dal cap. XXX al XXXIV del libro I si tratta diffusamente dei Balnea, delle tipologie degli edifici, distinti tra quelli pubblici e quelli privati, degli effetti benefici sul corpo, dei tipi di acque consigliate per i diversi scopi; il bagno preludeva in particolare, per gli atleti, al rituale dell’unzione del corpo, prima della lotta nella sabbia delle arene, ma in genere era anche praticato dopo ogni tipo di attività fisica, sia il gioco della palla che la corsa, per defatigare il corpo ed eliminare il sudore. Nel libro si trova anche ampio spazio dato ai tipi di essenze e alle fasi della composizione vera e propria di questi olii ed unguenti utilizzati dagli atleti. L’autore riporta a proposito l’abitudine di uomini e giovani di stare nudi nelle palestre e nei ginnasi, alcuni passi in cui si sosteneva che questo fosse un incitamento all’amore omosessuale e un preludio al lupanare. Fortunato Scacchi, a expert philologist and antiquarian, was born around 1573 in Fano, where he died in 1643. His most important work is the present one, a treatise of profound erudition, in which the author collects news and historical data on the aromas used by ancient Jews in ointments and perfumes and on their composition and use in sacred ceremonies. The text is full of references to the books of the Old Testament and to those of the authors of the ancient Greek and Roman world, but also to the Holy Ark and the 'menorah' and furnishings for divine worship. Scacchi speaks of all sorts of anointments mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, from the lamps of the ancients, to embalming, to the baths. From chap. XXX to XXXIV of book I, the author deals widely with the Balneas, the types of buildings, distinguished between public and private ones, the beneficial effects on the body, the types of water recommended for the various purposes; the bath preluded in particular, for the athletes, to the body anointing ritual, before the fight in the sand of the arenas, but in general it was also practiced after any type of physical activity, both the game of the ball and the races, to defatigate the body and eliminate the sweat. In the book there is also ample space given to the types of essences and the phases of the actual composition of these oils and ointments used by athletes. By the way, the author reports the habit of men and young people to be naked in gyms and gymnasiums, which was claimed as an incitement to homosexual relations and a prelude to brothels. Brunet 662

br. Continua la proposta di una "lectio coniugale" in schede: nel terzo sussidio vengono messi a tema le tonalità degli affetti e i diversi linguaggi dell'amore. Dopo le uscite sul Vangelo di Matteo, presentato nell'anno A, e sul Vangelo di Marco, proprio della liturgia dell'anno B, il progetto prosegue con il Vangelo di Luca per l'anno C. Il racconto lucano può essere infatti definito il Vangelo degli affetti; la Parola di Dio è una luce che rischiara e valorizza le infinite risonanze del cuore. Gesù non solo ci mostra l'amore del Padre, ma vuole risvegliare in noi la capacità di amare da figli. Nel narrare gli incontri del Maestro con la gente, attraverso le parole e i gesti, l'evangelista ne illustra i risvolti affettivi: in questo specchio, ciascun credente è invitato a sostare per riconoscersi e aprirsi all'amore. Seguire Gesù significa imparare ad amare. Scaturito dall'esperienza di un gruppo di famiglie della diocesi di Milano, l'itinerario non vuole essere un commento esegetico completo, ma piuttosto esprimere spunti e interrogativi che possano interpellare le coppie di oggi: la peculiarità del percorso sta infatti nel rivolgersi anzitutto ai due, che sperimentano ogni giorno le fatiche e le gioie dello stare insieme.

Heinrich Schalit is one of the principal names associated with serious mid-20th-century American synagogue music for Reform worshipalthough some of his settings had currency at one time in liberal Conservative synagogues as well.
Schalit was born in Vienna, where he studied composition with Robert Fuchs (18471927) and with Joseph Labor (18421924) , who was also one of Arnold Schoenbergs teachers. In 1927 Schalit was appointed to the position of organist at the principal Liberale synagogue in Munich, whose learned cantor and productive resident composer, Emanuel Kirschner (18571938) a former singer in the choir of Louis Lewandowski in Berlin and a follower in his path, albeit in a more artistically sophisticated veinappears to have exerted a lasting influence on him. His first synagogue composition was a setting of vshamru for the Sabbath eve liturgy, which he then incorporated into his first full Sabbath eve service, Eine Freitagabend Liturgie. That service, published in Germany in 1933 and later revised for American publication in 1951, remains one of his seminal achievements, notwithstanding his substantial subsequent oeuvre. By that time he had grown dissatisfied with what he called an 'unorganic mixture of traditional cantorial chants with congregational and choral music in the German style of the 19th century, ' and he felt that the synagogue of the 20th century required its elimination. Liturgical composition became for him a sacred calling, with a sense of mission that he posed as a challenge to contemporary Jewish musicians to 'prepare a change in style and outlook, ' as he wrote in the preface to his first service. His goal was to 'create a new, unified liturgical music growing out of the soil of the old-new, significant and valuable source material' that had become available through recent musicological studies. "[I]n 1948 the Zionist dream of an independent State of Israel miraculously came to pass, and one of the first things the settlers did when they came back to their land was to plant trees and develop moshavim (collective farms) . Reforesting the land by planting trees during Tu B'Shevat eventually became national custom. Today Israeli schoolchildren plant trees in special ceremonies (neti'at etzim) . And people living the Disapora often donate money to plant trees in Israel through the services of the Jewish National Fund. br. Schmemann non ha dubbi nell'affermare che la tragedia della Chiesa, la radice di ogni suo male, è il divorzio tra le dimensioni in cui si articola la sua vita. Liturgia, teologia, spiritualità, esistenza personale dei fedeli - ogni cosa procede per conto suo, incapace non solo di trovare i criteri per integrarsi in un tutto coerente, ma soprattutto di manifestarsi come espressione della vita ecclesiale. Il risultato è la frantumazione, l'inincidenza pastorale e anche l'ideologizzazione: c'è chi considera lo scopo della Chiesa l'azione sociale, chi un supporto a dei valori, chi la celebrazione di cerimonie antiche e suggestive... Come uscire da questa situazione? Tornando alla centralità della liturgia tipica della Chiesa antica, dove però la liturgia non era compresa come un culto fine a se stesso, ma come espressione, manifestazione e compimento di ciò in cui la Chiesa crede, che costituisce la sua fede, il luogo in cui essa attinge alla vita nuova, e perciò alla sua identità. In questo senso, in quanto atto della Chiesa in cui essa diviene Corpo di Cristo, la liturgia è la condizione ontologica perché ogni espressione della vita ecclesiale porti il sigillo della vita nuova e costituisca un anticipo del regno. Solo in questo modo la vita ecclesiale nelle sue varie dimensioni, così come la vita dei singoli credenti, diventa atto di testimonianza e di partecipazione al mistero stesso e alla epifania di vita, di luce e di conoscenza che da esso promana.

brossura La liturgia della settimana santa è tutta incentrata sul duello decisivo tra la vita e la morte, un duello che ci dà la chiave del mistero liturgico della pasqua. "La morte ha regnato da Adamo fino a Mosè" (Rm 5,14). L'universo intero è divenuto un cimitero cosmico, condannato alla distruzione e alla disperazione. Ecco perché "l'ultimo nemico è la morte" (1 Cor 15,26) e il suo annientamento costituisce lo scopo ultimo dell'Incarnazione. L'incontro con la morte è "l'ora" di Cristo, quella di cui diceva: "Per questo sono giunto a quest'ora". Un commento liturgico alla settimana santa di due autori d'eccezione che ci dischiude le profondità del mistero centrale della fede cristiana.
