This from a laid-in leaflet with the letterhead of the National Headquarters of the Holy Name Society. This edition has the frontis photo of Spellman the verso of which states "Presented with the Compliments of Major Edward Bowes K.M." and on the facing page a copy of a letter sent to Bowes by Spellman; spine also states"The Major Bowes Edition". Red cloth-covered boards with silver lettering on front and spine. Jean publia en 1594 un livre intitulé: ""Declaration des principaux motifs qui l'induisent à s'unir à l'Eglise catholique"". Bernard Sonis (Bonnet et Sonis?) en fit une réfutation qui parut l'année suivante. Note manuscrite à la page de garde, lettrine, titre manuscrit au dos (mais à peine visible) ; un important manque à la coiffe supérieure, couverture ""normalement"" tachée, quelques coins de pages cornées, intérieur relativement frais, bon état général pour ce livre du XVIe siècle.
