Marie-Louise Bivera ecrite dans l'Avant-Propos "Pour la premiere fois un ouvrage reunit nos deux noms celui de mon frere et le mien. Est-il necessaire de rappeler ici la vaste erudition de mon frere Ses travaux en temoignent de l'art anglais a l'art des vitraux du Moyen Age aux oeuvres du xviiie siecle. Accumulant documents d'archives et textes des auteurs ses recherches pendant de longues annees se sont orientee vers les monasteres parisiens. Il est mort au mois d'avril 1952 laissant inacheve ce grand travail qu'il desirait publier un jour. Marcel Aubert il me l'a confie souhaitait lui aussi la parution de cet ouvrage. Je me suis efforcee d'en completer et d'en terminer la redaction en utilisant les remarquables ouvrages de M. Louis Hautecoeur de l'Institut de M. Yvan Christ qui m'a fait la joie d'ecrire la preface de ce livre de M. Amedee Boinet pour ne citer que les principaux erudits a qui je suis redevable.
