br. Trent'anni fa, da Seattle arrivava a tutto il mondo un altro suono che parlava in un'altra maniera, ad altra gente: era il 24 settembre del 1991, "the year punk broke". E il mondo della musica non ha mai superato questo trauma. Ancora oggi si parla e si scrive di Nevermind, il disco che tutti hanno amato e tutti hanno capito, stregati dal biondo eterno adolescente Kurt Cobain. Anche dopo così tanto tempo, allontanarsi e guardare senza occhi lucidi quello che rimane di nevermind è un'impresa quasi impossibile. Però vale la pena tentare, togliere la patina luccicante che ricopre uno dei dischi più importanti della storia, per riportarlo alla sua forma originaria. Ritornare al nastro del master e ascoltarlo prima che possano farlo i Nirvana stessi; prima che possa farlo Kurt. I soldi, la fama, le copertine delle riviste notoriamente danno alla testa: ai Nirvana non è mancato nulla di tutto questo. Per ascoltare Nevermind come non siamo mai riusciti ad ascoltarlo, quindi, è necessario ripercorrere il susseguirsi di idee che hanno animato la band più esplosiva della scena di Seattle, tra quello che hanno detto prima di essere sommersi dai fan e quello che hanno lasciato intendere. Senza appiattirsi sulla biografia e senza lanciarsi in interpretazioni testuali non richieste, riordinare i fili che legano Kurt Cobain, la sua città natale, i deodoranti per ascelle, l'Inghilterra, Krist Novoselic, i Melvins, il litio, Dave Grohl... Per poi mettersi le cuffie e scombinarli ancora una volta.

September 1991. 8.5" x 11" postcard: 3.5" x 5.5". Original white paper flyer with music calendar September - October for City Gardens in Trenton New Jersey with Nirvana slated to play on Sept. 27 a benefit show featuring The Ween All-Star Band advertised on reverse printed in black. With postcard featuring the same graphic as the flyer in miniature on one side reverse side addressed "Last Punkcard for: Rich Russell." Very good flyer with horizontal and vertical fold-lines and some rubbing to print. Very good postcard with the addressee's name label present but detached from the postcard and a spot of soiling to bottom right of music calendar. Overall unique promotional material for Nirvana just as they were exploding into the mainstream. On Sept. 27 1991 Nirvana played at City Gardens in Trenton NJ alongside bands Das Damen and Planet Dread. Two weeks before the show on Sept. 10 1991 the band's single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was released changing the course of music history forever. An interesting sidenote is that the week after Nirvana played at City Gardens The Ramones and Ween played a double bill at the venue. Original white poster for December 9 1993 concert at Ak-Sar-Ben Stadium in Omaha Nebraska featuring the winged anatomical model from Nirvana's "In Utero" album printed in black with special guests The Breeders and Shonen Knife. Fine. Overall a clean and beautiful concert poster. Nirvana performed at Ak-Sar-Ben Stadium as part of their U.S. tour for "In Utero" their third and final studio album which was released on Sept. 21st 1993. Interestingly this show took place five days after Frank Zappa passed away and the band dedicated a performance of "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" to him. Less than a month before the show the band recorded their now legendary live concert on MTV Unplugged Nov. 18.
