Limited to 390 numbered copies plus 10 'hors-commerce' on 'Ingres d'Arches'. The French and Latin texts are taken from the Bibles publlished by Jean de Tournes at Lyon in 1554. Ren� Loche wrote the introduction and compiled the tables relatiing to the occurrence of the Salomon cuts in the various De Tournes editions pp. 249-316 which are adapted from Cartier's bibliography of that printer's works. The photographs of the Salomon woodcuts were executed by Yves Siza from 'The true and lyvely historyke purtreatures of the woll Bible' 1553 'Quadrins historiques de la Bible' 1560 and 'Quadrins historiques de la Bible' 1583. The text was printed in Garamond types by �tienne Braillard and the binding was executed by Henri Donzel in Geneva. The woodcuts on china paper in the separate portfolio were pulled from the original Salomon blocks belonging to the Mus�e d'Art et d'Histoire de Gen�ve. The second edition of the England LXX but the first edition with the preface by John Pearson 1613-1686 who in 1689 published his famous Exposition of the Creed and in 1673 was consecrated Bishop of Chester. This is the true first edition with the Pearson preface Darlow & Moule 1671. They go on to note: "This statement was probably borrowed from T. Brett's Letter Shewing Why our English Bibles Differ so Much from the Septuagint 1743 p. 47. Horne Manual p. 54 says: "Field's edition was counterfeited page by page by John Hayes a printer at Cambridge who in 1684 issued an edition though keeping the original 1665 date."
