New York: Horace Liveright 1930. First edition 2nd printing. Originally printed in 1929. Laid in the book is a four page ALS from Dame Judith Anderson that presumably was mailed with the book to a friend. The letter is warm and personal and reflects Anderson's affection for the recipient. Also included are copies of the letter and Allen Mears' typed version for easier reading. In 1947 Anderson played the lead in "Medea" a version of Euripides' tragedy written by Jeffers for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress. The show ran for 214 performances. Anderson then toured throughout the country with it. She was a good friend of Jeffers and frequent visitor to his home "Tor House" in Carmel California. Nice association.
