Judith Aston
Aston R Postural Assessment: A new paradigm for observing and evaluating body patterns
Paperback / softback. New. This is a brand new edition of a successful book which was one of the first to encourage movement therapists and bodyworkers to look at the postural causes of movement problems rather than focusing treatment just on the physical symptoms. The book explains how to measure and assess posture and provides tools for doing so. The author introduces her unique perspective on body mechanics - Aston-Mechanics R - a departure from the standard model of body posture and provides many opportunities to practice observation and analytical skills based on this paradigm. Key features The author is widely recognized as a pioneer in the art and science of kinetics for her discovery of the Aston R Paradigm and consequent development of the many forms of movement bodywork fitness and ergonomics of Aston R Kinetics. She created and developed Aston R Kinetics as an educational system of movement and bodywork. Rather than enforcing physical symmetry Aston R Kinetics seeks to recognize the asymmetries that are natural to a person's body and to achieve the best movement possible. Her acute ability to 'see' the body in stillness and motion and to train others to see move and exercise established her discipline of bodywork and movement training that is known as Aston R Kinetics. The book is highly illustrated with over 300 photographs and 150 line drawings. All the illustrations are new for this edition. paperback

Sur les Traces de la Bibliothèque Médiévale des Juifs de Colmar: Reconstitution à Partir des Fragments Conservés dans les Reliures d'Incunables
Leiden: Brill 2019. First edition. Hardcover. Fine. Octavo. ix 1 267 1pp. Indices in French and Hebrew. Text in French with some Hebrew and some transliterated Hebrew. Plus 58 unnumbered color plates of Hebrew text fragments along with color photos of fragments in the text for a total of 72 images in this volume. Pictorial green buckram with purple red and green spine. Spine lettered in white. A fine as new copy.

The Colmar Public Library preserves more than 330 Hebrew fragments glued to the bindings of incunabula. Each of them a priori can be considered as a witness to a book that disappeared probably fallen into the hands of bookbinders as a result of tragic historical circumstances. After describing and identifying them Judith Kogel was able to partially reconstruct and present in this book the collection of texts studied and used by Jews in Colmar and the surrounding area in the Middle Ages. Although we cannot know to whom these books belonged and where they were kept the collection covers all areas essential to Jewish daily life and reflects a structured community committed to the transmission of knowledge. Professor Judith A Merkle SNDdeN
Sensing the Spirit: Toward the Future of Religious Life
Hardback. New. Drawing on the work of Canadian philosopher Charles Taylor this book examines how secular culture affects both the living of Christian discipleship today and impacts how religious congregations engage in their own renewal and future. It argues that religious communities can do more than improve and fix the out of date conditions they met in the renewal after Vatican II. Calling on environmental sociological and theological insights this book asks how the ongoing “coming of the Kingdom†in the Spirit brings new gifts for these times and how congregations might respond beyond restorative or post-Christian solutions to new challenges confronting them. This book offers a renewed meaning of religious life in secular life and the gift it offers and receives from every culture in which it is embedded. hardcover

Women of Courage: An Exhibition of Photographs

Signed by Rosa Parks. Photographs and profiles of black women who worked for civil rights in an exhibit which was shown nationally. The project was sponsored by the Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe College. On page 25 is a full page photograph of Rosa Parks which she has signed. Part of her picture has been cut out and taped back in. On the opposite page is a smaller photograph of Ms. Juanita Craft a long time civil right organizer in Texas. The book is from the estate of Joe Atkins who in 1955 sued North Texas College for admission based on race. After he won other Texas colleges admitted black students. Juanita Craft was his sponsor and mentor. I acquired several books from Mr. Atkins' estate which help to validate this association. Ms. Parks signature has not been authenticated but my usual practice is to offer full refund if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the signature is not correct. The book is well thumbed the top of the spine has a small tear and there is edge wear all around. The pages are clean and unmarked. It is listed as very good-. Rosa Parks has signed under her photograph on page 25 no inscription. See photos. Shipped boxed.
Radcliffe College paperback
