‎Provenant du fonds Dentu, ces 3 très intéressantes lettres autographes signées de l'imprimeur orléanais Georges Jacob, évoquent son travail de composition d'un ouvrage de Barbey d'Aurevilly. Il ne peut s'agir que de l'édition originale de l'ouvrage majeur de Barbey, "Les Diaboliques", qui paraîtra en 1874 chez Dentu, imprimé par Georges Jacob en 2200 exemplaires (Vicaire, I, 305). On y évoque aussi que le roman "Cardenio", oeuvre de Gustave Aimard parue chez Dentu en 1874. Quant au roman d'Assolant évoqué par Jacob, s'agit manifestement de "Rachel" publié chez Dentu en 1874. Rare courrier d'imprimeur évoquant le long labeur préparatoire à l'édition d'un des chefs-d'oeuvre de la littérature française. La seconde des 3 lettres est enrichie de 2 pages d'annotations autographes par Edouard Dentu à l'attention de son premier commis Sauvaistre.‎
