For Schleiden, the only legitimate scientific method is to start with exact observation the infer to the laws that best explain the observed facts; there is no place for philosophical speculation. Those who indulge in it - Schelling, Hegel - try to deduce knowledge of nature a priori and inevitably traduce many empirical facts in the process. In reality, contra Schleiden, Schelling and Hegel thought that the empirical and the a priori could work together. But for Schleiden and others they could not, and a a priori speculation could only ever damage scientific inquiry. From this perspective, Schleiden and others could not even see that Schelling and Hegel adopted a mixed approach, and wrongly assumed that their method was purely a priori". Entre as mais notáveis gravuras realizadas para ilustrar livros encontram-se: La Vie de Marianne por Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux 1688-1763 publicado em The Hague entre 1735 e 1747 gravou os frontispícios para a edição em 15 volumes das obras completas de Pierre de Brantôme 1540-1614: Oeuvres du seigneur de Brantôme publicadas em Haia em 1740 e em especial as notáveis gravuras para as edições de Haia de 1746 e 1755 da Histoire Générale des Voyages de Prévost.  </p>_x000d_<p>EN 225x165 cm colour engraving. They are among the oldest peoples to inhabit the African continent and do not belong to the Bantu people who arrived in the southern part of Africa only about 1000 to 500 years ago. They are called Khoekhoe they are pastoralists and the most recent genetic research has shown that they are one of the oldest human communities.</p>_x000d_<p>During the German rule of Namibia then called South West Africa these peoples were victims of genocide by the German occupying forces which was considered the first genocide of the 20th century.</p>_x000d_<p>Jacobus van der Schley Amsterdam 1715 - 1779 Dutch designer and engraver. He studied with Berard Picart 1673-1733 whose style influenced him. Most of his works were portrait prints and book illustrations.
