Saint-Pol-Roux Manoir de Coecilian 15 février 1937”. Quelques rares rousseurs, tout petit manque de papier en tête du second plat de couverture et aux deux derniers feuillets, sinon bon exemplaire. Malgré nos recherches, nous n’avons pu identifier Marie-Louise Cara à qui Saint-Pol-Roux a fait d’enthousiastes et reconnaissantes dédicaces autographes.Ce monument de la poésie français, le plus breton des marseillais, le dernier poète symboliste, revendiqué comme leur prédécesseur par les surréalistes, grand ami de Victor Segalen qui lui ramènera quelques souvenirs de Paul Gauguin acquis, après le décès de celui-ci aux Marquises où il se trouvait par hasard, fut d’abord fortement influencé par Mallarmé et Villiers de l’Isle-Adam. En 1890, il participe à la création, par Alfred Valette, de la revue et maison d’édition le Mercure de France, qui va accueillir toute l’école Symboliste et notamment Mallarmé qui, lors d’un banquet littéraire, assis à côté de Saint-Pol-Roux l’appela “son fils”, celui-ci en fut marquée à vie. C’est en 1893 qu’il va faire paraître le premier tome des “Reposoirs de la Procession”, dont le liminaire résume les doctrines esthétiques du poète et annonce l’Idéoréalisme ; dans ce titre collectif, qui précise ses différentes stations spirituelles, les recueils à paraître réunissent “les tablettes où sont consignées les variées impressions de la route étrange”. A la même époque, il n’hésite pas à écrire que “Le renouvellement intégral ou partie de la face du monde caractérise l’oeuvre du poète : par la forme, il s’affirme démiurge et davantage, car par la ciselure dont il revêt l’or sublime, le poète corrige Dieu.” (Théophile Briant et divers)‎
