‎Neue allgemeine deutsche Bibliothek, Anhang zum neun und zwanzigsten bis acht und sechzigsten Bande, 1802, S.179.- Johann Friedrich Böttcher (1757- nach 1800) war Arzt in Berlin und ab 1791 Physikus der Kreise Rastenburg und Neidenburg (Ostpreußen). Im ersten Teil dieses Buches erfolgt eine sowohl unter historischen, soziologischen, medizinischen und ökonomischen Gesichtspunkten verfasste Beurteilung über das St. Lazarus Hospital in Warschau. In mehreren Artikel sowohl im ersten, als auch im zweiten Teil des Buches befasst sich der Autor mit der Syphilis (?venerische Krankheiten?, ?venerische Luftseuche?), die Krankheit, mit der eine große Anzahl der Patienten in dem Krankenhaus behandelt werden. Der zweite Abschnitt widmet sich im ?Medicinal-Prozeß um den neunten Artikel von den Recidiven der venerischen Krankheiten in mehreres Licht zu setzen? einem medizinischen Konflikt zwischen dem Stadtphysikus Dr. Wolff und dem Kreispysikus (der Verfasser der Schrift) in all seinen Facetten. Am Ende des Buches befindet sich ein ?Verzeichniß von denen vom 15ten März 1798 bis dahin 1799 kurierten venerischen Kranken im St. Lazarus zu Warschau? mit Namen und Alter der Kranken, ihren Leiden, Länge des Aufenthaltes sowie Anmerkungen zu den Personen.- Böttcher verfasste außer diesem Buch u.a. noch weitere Schriften: über die ?Abhandlung von den Krankheiten der Knochen, Knorpel und Sehnen? Rare exemplaire de cet ouvrage ésotérique de Lazare Meyssonnier, médecin et "professeur de la science de l'esprit", portant sur la démonologie et possession diabolique, la théologie des noms de Dieu et la Kabbale hébraïque, les types de magie, l'alchimie opératoire, l'anatomie, l'angélogie... Reliure en plein veau, dos à cinq nerfs orné de filets et fleurons dorés, titre estampé, nouvelles gardes ajoutées, tranches mouchetées. Mors fendus, quelques épidermures, dorure en partie effacée, trois premiers feuillets brunis, quelques déchirures, mouillures sur une majorité des feuillets, et trous de vers sans atteinte au texte. Planches manquantes, mais conserve sa planche in-texte sur les différents états du mercure (p. 543). L'ouvrage a fait partie de la célèbre bibliothèque occulte de Stanislas de Guaïta, porte son ex-libris manuscrit ainsi que ses inscriptions autographes d'appréciation et de provenance. * Stanislas de Guaïta insiste sur limportance du présent exemplaire, "Ouvrage curieux et très rare", et rajoute également une autre mention : "Dans cet exemplaire, les figures font défaut". Bien que privé de ses illustrations, louvrage a attiré lattention du bibliophile car ce titre est d'ailleurs si rarement trouvé que ses exemplaires ont souvent subi les affres du temps : celui de la BnF est même manquant de plusieurs feuillets. La collection de livres et de manuscrits de Guaïta sur lalchimie, la sorcellerie, la magie, lastrologie, le magnétisme, le spiritisme et autres domaines ésotériques, est considérée comme lune des plus complètes et savantes. Regroupant 2227 volumes, anciens comme contemporains, dont certains dune rareté extrême, sa bibliothèque reste une référence pour létude de lésotérisme. Bibliomane passionné mais aussi véritable spécialiste des sciences occultes, Guaïta tirait également un usage pratique de sa bibliothèque qui lui a servi pour écrire sonEssai des sciences maudites. Guaïta précise également que l'exemplaire provient de la vente des bibliothèques des célèbres spirites, la baronne Güldenstubbe et du comte dOurches (Librairie Adolphe Geering, Bâle, 1890), ventes où il fait plusieurs acquisitions de première importance. Cet exemplaire sera dispersé à l'occasion de la propre vente après décès de Guaïta, dont le catalogue publié en 1898 et 1899 (où notre exemplaire figure sous le numéro n° 1618) par la librairie Dorbon est considéré comme un véritable manuel de bibliographie ésotérique. Lexemplaire porte également l'ex-libris gravé du grand connaisseur de Stanislas Guaïta, Guy Bechtel, auteur des Notules sur lart de distinguer les ouvrages provenant des bibliothèques de Monsieur Stanislas de Guaita, 1861-1897, avec plusieurs exemples et les reproductions nécessaires à une juste appréciation (1998). Exemplaire personnel de Stanislas de Guaïta, dont la bibliothèque sert de référence encore aujourd'hui à la connaissance des sciences occultes.
