New York Jewish Forward 1941. Hardcover. Good. Bound issues of The New York Jewish Forward from April to June 1941 are in this oversize volume 23x17" bound in tan cloth and marbled paper. Paper is toned and fragile damp stain to upper right corner. I don't read Yiddish so it is hard for me to describe the contents a remarkable portrait of an era in our history. There are ads in English for Catskills Borscht Belt hotels. In this period of WWII the Nazis invaded Greece Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. In response to the first reports of atrocities against the Jewish population of German-occupied Poland special correspondent A. Brodie complained of exaggerated dispatches and lack of facts. But as accounts accumulated in the winter of 1939-40 of mass arrests forced labor massacres executions and expulsions the paper discerned the outline of the unfolding Holocaust.
