Durch G.G. Jung war er dort mit der Freudschen Lehre bekannt geworden und hatte selbst einige psychoanalytische Aufsätze publiziert, deren Scharfsinn und Originalität Freud aufgefallen waren. Aus der Diskussion über diese Aufsätze entstand eine nahezu zwei Jahrzehnte, bis zum frühen Tode Abrahams währende freundschaftliche Zusammenarbeit, die sehr bald den anfänglichen Charakter einer Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehung überwand. Neben den überragenden intellektuellen Qualitäten scheint Freud an Abraham besonders dessen menschliche Integrität und "unzerstörbare Lebensbereitschaft" geschätzt zu haben. Davon gibt das vorliegende, fast fünfhundert Dokumente umfassende Briefkonvolut beredt Zeugnis. Der Leser erfährt, mit welcher Anteilnahme Freud die Pläne Abrahams verfolgte, als dieser im Jahre 1908 nach Berlin übersiedelte, sich dort als, Psychoanalytiker niederließ, die erste deutsche psychoanalytische Vereinigung gründete und mit unvergleichlichem Mut und zäher Zuversicht versuchte, für die Freudsche Theorie in die Phalanx der klassischen Nervenheil-künde eine Bresche zu schlagen - zu einem Zeitpunkt, da man der Psychoanalyse in Deutschland, sofern man sie überhaupt zur Kenntnis nahm, mit unverhüllt haßvoller Ablehnung und moralisierender Entrüstung begegnete. Der Briefwechsel ist aber nicht nur durch die in ihm enthaltenen Lageberichte, die auch die mannigfaltigen Anfechtungen von innen, vor allen Dingen die Differenzen und den endlichen Bruch mit C. G. Gebet- und Andachtsbuch f�r israelitische Frauen und M�dchen published in 1867 was compiled with tehinnot composed by the leading luminaries of Liberal Judaism in Breslau Silesia: Rabbi Jacob Freund 1827-1877 Rabbi Abraham Geiger 1810-1874 Rabbi Moritz G�demann 1835-1918 . The title of the collection is a direct reference to the biblical figure anna whose petitionary prayer for a child was answered with the birth of her son the prophet Shmuel. Besides teinnot Hanna contains translated portions of prayers found in the daily siddur and holiday mazor. Among the many teinnot included there are a �Prayer of a newlywed� �Prayer for a sick father� �Prayer of a mother on the day of the Confirmation of her son� �Prayer of a widower.� Hanna ends with a large section for cemetery prayers. Other more intimate or day-to-day references found in Stunden Der Andacht relating to taharat hamishpaha or haphrashat halla are notably absent. .
