Carl Sandburg was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his Complete Poems 1950 and then again for his Abraham Lincoln: The War Years 1939. Originally printed in two volumes the author himself has this to say about this edition “I first planned this book for one large volume. When completed however it was necessary for initial publication to issue it in two.
