The book discusses the gradual introduction of other foods once the first teeth erupt and finishes with a discussion of the summer complaint which comes from "overfeeding and hot and foul air". Dr. Abraham Jacobi wrote the original edition which was published in 1874 and his wife Dr. Mary Putnam Jacobi substantially enlarged and revised it in this 1878 edition.
