The California Limited became the first AT&SF's name trains to feature Harvey Company meal service en route. Later trains such as the Super Chief included dining cars staffed by Fred Harvey Company personnel as part of the standard passenger car complement right from the outset. Die GAAG war im November 1970 auch an der ,People?s Flag Show? in der Judson Memorial Church in New York beteiligt, zusammen mit Black Panther, Gay Liberation Front, Women Artists in Revolution (W.A.R.) und zahlreichen weiteren KünstlerInnen. Die ,People?s Flag Show? war das Resultat einer mehrmonatigen Diskussion zur Vorbereitung einer Aktion [...] gegen die restriktiven Gesetze zum Gebrauch der US-Amerikanischen Flagge. Eine Aktion während der ,Flag Show? war die Verbrennung einer amerikanischen Flagge als Zeichen, dass die Flagge nur dem Volk gehören kann und folglich das Volk auch damit tun können muss, was es möchte. In der Folge der Aktion wurde die Künstlerin Faith Ringgold, sowie Jon Hendricks und Jean Toche verhaftet. The El Tovar Hotel also known simply as El Tovar is a former Harvey House hotel situated directly on the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona United States. The hotel was designed by Charles Whittlesey Chief Architect for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and was opened in 1905 as one of a chain of hotels and restaurants owned and operated by the Fred Harvey Company in conjunction with the Santa Fe railway whose Grand Canyon Depot was 330 feet away. It is at the northern terminus of the Grand Canyon Railway which was formerly a branch of the Santa Fe. The hotel is one of only a handful of Harvey House facilities that are still in operation and is an early example of the style that would evolve into National Park Service Rustic architecture. The booklet provides detailed information about and attractive views of the El Tovar Hotel including both exterior and interior attractions as well as information on things to do in the area. Flush-cut quarter cloth and plain papered boards with the title indistinctly printed along the spine; stitching loose; however it is probably pretty much an as-issued copy of a very indifferent private press production. Inscribed by the author who later released his hand-set and hand-printed items under the imprint of The Horace Walpole Press. Offered together with four other titles from the Press: 'Occasional Verse' by Rogers 1933; 'More Occasional Verse' by Rogers 1935 and 'Selections from Modern French Poetry' and 'Dips into the Classics' both translated by H.E. Ashley and F.E. Rogers. Although the last two mentioned are undated Farmer 'Private Presses and Australia' 1972 gives 1938 as the publication date of 'Selections from Modern French Poetry'. As this book lists all of the titles recorded by Farmer other than 'Memoirs of a Medico' 1941 it seems reasonable to suggest that the six undated titles in Farmer appeared not later than 1938. Of the four extra titles offered here only 'Occasional Verse' is not inscribed and signed by the author. Frederick Edward Rogers 1865-1947 was an English doctor. He recounts in his memoirs that 'In 1923 my health being indifferent my wife and I and two younger daughters set sail for Adelaide South Australia where we joined our second girl who had married a Digger'. 5 items. ‎Issu d’une illustre famille, C. de Caylus (1669-1754) devint un des protégés de Mme de Maintenon, qui le fit nommer Aumônier du Roi puis Grand vicaire du cardinal de Noailles ; c’est lui qui le sacra évêque d’Auxerre en 1705. D’abord favorable à la bulle Unigenitus, il rallia le camp des Jansénistes, animé par le cardinal de Noailles, et devint un des adversaires parmi les plus acharnés contre les Jésuites et contre la déposition de J. Soanen évêque de Senez. Ses œuvres ont été condamnées par le Saint Office ou par des Brefs de Clément XII. Très bel exemplaire, dans une reliure d’époque fort décorative (Migne, 366 et s.).‎

One is a summary of the income and expenditure of the missions. An interesting summary - showing which of the missions and individuals received grants. The other, is a summary of the work of the missions, first published in the Dublin Review (no. 8). Overall, this is in a good condition. There is a touch of marking to the rear page only. Otherwise very clean and tidy.‎

Colour map of the extended area from the Ganges and Calcutta to Hong Kong and from Tibet and Hankow in China to Singapore with part of Sarawak and Borneo and the northern part of Sumatra together with the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The McMahon line delineating the border between Tibet and India is not observed nor the 1941 border established between France and Thailand following the Mekong River. This map is by the Chicago Sun cartographer F. E. Manning produced for the Army Orientation Branch. A smaller version was also included with the Newsmap issue of January 17th 1944. .
