Through Depression and Blitz swinging 'sixties and secularized' eighties the church has stayed in the city centre a place of continual change believing that there the Gospel must be proclaimed. Relishing the variety of life on the doorstep Bloomsbury has been open to new scholarship new methods and above all to people. The church has been remarkable in persuading members to undertake hard and often unappealing work and in the enduring affection inspired in those who have belonged if only for a short time. Illustrated with quotations and reminiscences this study begins as history but is more a biography of a living church.
