Dos lisses ornés de 2 caissons à la grotesque, d'un fer et de roulettes. Pièces de titre en maroquin rouge, pièces de tomaison en maroquin vert. Coins un peu émoussés. Dos légèrement éclaircis et frottés. Un accroc sur le mors spérieur. Décharge d'encre de certaines pages sur d'autres. Bel exemplaire. Le Marquis de Foresta accomplit son voyage en Sicile à 22 ans. Rédigé sous forme de lettres, le voyage est une description de toutes les richesses culturelles de la Sicile, mais aussi de ses volcans, de ses villes, de l'agriculture, du climat et des moeurs des habitants. Une table analytique des toutes les lettres permet de repérer aisément les sujets. Ce récit de voyage possède la fraîcheur particulière de l'enthousiasme et de la découverte d'un jeune homme. Il est fort bien écrit et puise ses références chez les auteurs de l'Antiquité. La préface relate l'ensemble des écrits qui ont été faits sur la Sicile et souligne l'originalité de celui-ci. C'est seulement au XIXe que la Sicile reçut des voyageurs européens avec le développement du voyage en Orient, le voyage était difficile au début du XIXe avec l'absence d'auberge et de voies de communication.
