Decorative red boards are rather tarished, and sunned to spine with dulled gilt titling. the decorative title label to spine is worn but details ca still be seen. no loss just some slight rounding to edges. internally, ffeps are tanned, and markedly foxed, as are many of the earlier pages and edges of th textblock. all pages present. Fascinating novel set partly during the Franco Prussian war of 1870-71, at sea, in America, and on a remote island in the South Atlantic. 424 pages, illustrations.
