Die Zahl der Rungu in Sambia ist nicht bekannt, da sie dort unter der Ethnie der Mambwe zusammengefasst werden. Deren Zahl wurde 1993 in Sambia auf 262.800 geschätzt. Die Rungu sind Ackerbauern und Viehzüchter. Sie sind Christen mit animistischen Wurzeln. Die Sprachen der Mambwe, der Lungu und der Rungu unterscheiden sich in Dialektschwankungen. ? Occasional light foxing a couple small splits/tears to maps else fine. Signature of Alfred Fowler on the front free endpaper of Volume I and the rear pastedown of Volume II. Vancouver sailed by way of the Cape of Good Hope to Australia then to New Zealand Hawaii and the northwest coast of America -- discovering previously unknown geographical features in each locale. In three seasons' work Vancouver surveyed the coast of California with remarkable accuracy visited a number of the Spanish settlements in Alta California investigated the Strait of Juan de Fuca circumnavigated Vancouver island and disproved the existence of any passage between the Pacific and Hudson Bay. ‎London: Methuen & Company 1898. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. xxvii 319 pp illustrations 4 maps two folding. Introduction by George T. Goldie. Publisher's green cloth with gilt lettering and vignette of soldiers on front board. Former mercantile library copy with bookplate on front pastedown and a few stamps. No external library markings. Corners lightly bumped some chipping/short tears to cloth at spine ends. One of the folding maps is quite delicate and has numerous tears partially mended on the verso with archival tape with some minor loss. Vandeleur a highly decorated officer in the Scots Guards participated in the Unyoro Expedition in 1895 the Niger Expedition in 1897 and served with the Egyptian Army in the Soudan expedition of 1898. He was awarded a grant from the Royal Geographical Society for his valuable work surveying more than 2000 miles of territory in East Africa and the Niger district. He was killed in 1901 when 250 Boers fired on his train. Methuen & Company hardcover books‎

Il magnifico cartiglio in basso a sinistra mostra una veduta di Table Bay sullo sfondo e il giardino del Governatore sulla destra. La carta è racchiusa in una cornice decorativa. Era parte della "Galerie Agreable du Monde", il famoso atlante di Vander Aa, completato nel 1729 e consistente in più di 3000 mappe. Incisione in rame con coloritura d’epoca successiva, in buone condizioni. This is a small detailed map of the Cape from Saldanha to False Bay. The attractive cartouche on lower left shows a view of Table Bay in the background, and the Governor’s garden on the right. The map is sourranded by a decorative engraved frame; included in the Galerie Agreable du Monde, the well-known atlas by Vander Aa, completed in 1729 and containing over 3000 maps.
