Octavo. Pp. 70. Plus 4 handsome folding maps bound at end. Text figure. Original printed wrappers, spine reinforced with paper, old shelf ticket to spine, old military institutional stamps to cover and title-page; wrappers soiled and shabby, close tear to one leaf, lower wrapper and some maps chipped at corner with slight loss to one map. In fair condition, most uncommon in the original state. ~ First Dutch edition, translated from the French. Very rare. Though well written and comprehensive, the book was not receive with much acclaim. (Q. N., in "De Gids" Year 36, 1872).
