Selon l'auteur, les découvertes archéologiques du XXe siècle nous révèlent l'existence d'une civilisation sumérienne inspirée d'une science préhistorique antérieure, qui fut l'un des sommets de l'intelligence humaine. Dans cette nouvelle optique, Robert Dézélus affirme que l'Arménie est "un monument imposant de l'histoire humaine". Après une première partie consacrée aux origines et au passé profond de l'Arménie, l'auteur traite l'histoire de l'Arménie puis revient à la mystique sumérienne avant d'évoquer la littérature arménienne et la naissance de l'alphabet. Puis il évoque, dans l'ordre : la musique, l'Eglise, l'émigration, l'art, l'architecture. La bibliographie est aussi impressionnante que la diversité des sujets traités dans l'ouvrage. Des cartes manuscrites et divers croquis viennent illustrer cet ouvrage assez singulier.

Every human being is bestowed with human dignity. And this human dignity means that every human being, needs and is entitled to as a human right, to live in a state governed by justice. The Organization of the State should afford the individual the right to assembly in order to actualize his or her human rights at more advanced levels; and the right to established legal personalities such as associations or foundations; and the only grounds for any restriction over these rights and freedoms can be the principle of 'not harming others'. The 1936 Declaration was used as a cover-up for the persecution of minority foundations by the Republic of Turkey. The 1913 and 1936 declarations, prepared by all minority foundations upon the request of the state, are officially treated as 'declarations of properties'; whereas teh 2012 Declaration -the most comprehensive balance sheet produced so far of the loss sufferred by Armenian foundations in Istanbul, in a chain of injustice that has continued for almost a century- is a 'declaration of unlawful seizures'. The story told in this book is not the story of structures made of stone or concrete, but the story of human beings. The problem is not about 'properties', but an issue of the sustainability of cultural existence. We know that, as long as it fails to face up to the mindset that alienates the ancient peoples of this country and refuses to see them as equal citizens, Turkey's efforts towards democratization will fall short. With the hope and wish that this work will contribute to transformation.

Founded under the Hrant Dink Foundation, ASULIS Discourse, Dialogue, Democracy Laboratory has been designed as an interdisciplinary space to engage from experimental studies and research in the field of discourse studies to conduct discussions on methods to combat discrimination as well as discriminatory discourse and its consequences. The word asulis, which is composed of the combination of the verbs asel (to say) and lsel (to listen) in Armenian and commonly used as conversation and chat was chosen as the name of the laboratory. ASULIS represents a first in Turkey in terms of an organization to engage in activities on discourse studies. The gathering resources on discriminatory discourse, hate speech, discourse analysis, etc. for the ASULIS Collection established under the Hrant Dink Foundation Library is still in process. The first ASULIS report is prepared with the main support of Open Society Foundation and contributions of Istanbul Policy Center and Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' MyMedia Programme based on its preparation process during the 2014-2015 period. The sections of the report include short definitions of different concepts (such as hate speech, discriminatory discourse and dangerous speech), the research conducted on hate speech between 2009-2015 by the Foundation, suggestions for the laboratory's methods and areas of work based on the meetings and panels organized during its preparatory process as well as the vision, mission and structure of ASULIS.
