The earlier editions of the book used his pseudonym, 'A Citizen of Massachusetts.' His chronological history of Keene was first published in 1826. Armorial book plate of Henry James William Stillingfleet (1826-1887), Rector of Hampton Bishop, Herefordshire. The impressive coat of arms on the boards of the bindings are possibly those of his ancestor, Edward Stillingfleet (1635-1699), Bishop of Worcester.
