‎Very Good English Original sepia-toned large-sized albumen print photograph of a group of soldiers of the 4th Troop, C Squadron of The Q.O.R.G.Y., probably taken before WW I. Mounted on cardboard. 29x24 cm. Descriptive words in English.  Exceedingly rare and attractive photo shows 32 troops with their guns on horses, presumably in Britain, as evidenced by the topographic view in the background. The Queen's Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry was a yeomanry regiment of the British Army that can trace their formation back to 1796. It saw action in the Second Boer War, the First World War, and the Second World War.  RHQ and C Squadron moved to Egypt in June 1915, landing at Port Said on 22 June. In October they joined the 52nd (Lowland) Infantry Division at Gallipoli as dismounted troops and participated in the Gallipoli Campaign. In January 1916 they returned to Egypt with the division. In May 1916, RHQ moved to France and joined V Corps Cavalry Regiment. C Squadron remained with the division until August 1917 when it joined XXI Corps Cavalry Regiment, along with A Squadron, Hertfordshire Yeomanry and A Squadron, Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry. In May 1918 it returned to Egypt for the rest of the war. (Wikipedia).‎

‎Original-Flugblatt der Reichsbank zur Zeichnung der 6. Kriegsanleihe im Ersten Weltkrieg. Es heißt darin eingangs: "Die Engländer haben richtig erkannt, welch' bedeutsame Rolle das Geld für die entscheidende Beendigung des Kriegs spielt. Und sie haben es auch geschickt zuwege gebracht, jeden einzelnen ihrer Volksgenossen bis herab zum kleinsten Sparer teils mit guten Worten, teils durch die versteckte Drohung mit einer Zwangsanleihe zu nötigen, sein letztes Pfundstück herzugeben." Später wirbt die Reichsbank bei der deutschen Bevölkerung mit den Worten: "Zeige ihnen, was deutscher Opfersinn und deutsche Vaterlandsliebe, was deutsche Tüchtigkeit und deutsche Kraft vermag!". Überaus seltene Archivalie der Reichsbank zum Krieg gegen England im Ersten Weltkrieg!‎

‎New English Paperback. Demy 8vo. (21 x 14 cm). In English. 456 p. The rivalry between Russia and Britain over the autonomous Province of Eastern Rumelia is a historical fact. This study examines tis fact via two historical events concerning the development of the Province - the process of establishment and administrative organization of Eastern Rumelia (1878-1879) and the event of unification between the Province and the Principality of Bulgaria. It argues that the British authorities created the Province of Eastern Rumelia and later they defended the act of unification with the purpose to thwart the Russian political advancement in the Balkans. The British political aim was successfully accomplished as Russia achieved to preserve its political domination in the Province only until 1885 when it opposed the act of unification. This research is based on archival documentary sources and secondary sources. The archive collections used for preparation of this work are the collections of the Foreign Office of the National Archive. The existing historiography on the issue of Eastern Rumelia is very limited as regards the variety of examined topics, though a considerable number of researches are dedicated to the act of unification and the political, cultural and economic development of the Province from 1878 to 1885.‎

‎<p>London 1855. 1855. Good. - Octavo 8 inches high by 5 inches wide. Softcover bound in printed self-wraps. Once likely bound in with other pamphlets the book is disbound with the cover page and last page detached. 14 pages. The pages are slightly soiled and the pamphlet was folded twice horizontally. Good.</p><p>Exceedingly RARE. First only edition.</p><p>On December 11 1854 The Times of London editorialized: "We felt it our duty a few days ago to call attention to the fact that if disease or wounds were to incapacitate Lord Raglan for continuing his labours in the Crimea the command of our army would devolve upon Sir Richard England and we suggested that such a change ought by all means to be provided against." The Times goes on to forcefully attack England for his actions as commander of the Scinde field force during the Afghan wars in 1842. "In the beginning of the year 1842 Sir Richard England commanded the Scinde field force. It was extremely important to reinforce General Nott at Candahar where he was in want of men money and ammunition. Near the village of Hykulzye at the foot of the Bolan Pass General England was encountered by some Asiatic troops and repulsed with the loss of nearly 100 killed and wounded. It was of the utmost importance that he should advance or at any rate not retreat for General Nott had written to him that either halting or retiring would have the worst effect throughout Afghanistan and would be more injurious to his present position than 20000 of the enemy in the field. But General England did retreat. His troops were eager to renew the attack; Colonel Stacy the political agent who accompanied him undertook to storm the position with a hundred or even eighty men - thrice he begged for permission and thrice he was refused. General England retired to Quettah and there began to intrench himself leaving Nott the honour of England and the destinies of India to their fate. The defences before which he retreated were not formidable. They were thrown up in a few hours and when afterwards taken some of our officers rode over them without knowing where they were. General England wrote that the enemy were a hundred to one stronger than any one expected though they were fewer than he was informed that they would be. Finally he strove to throw the blame on the Sepoys whom he would not allow to renew the attack. 'The seeming unwillingness of England' says Mr. Kaye 'to redeem his character by a vigorous movement in advance irritated General Nott more than the disaster itself.'"</p><p>In this letter to his brother-in-law A.F.W. Montagu England describes his actions at that time in great detail and proffers a defense of them. Following his letter of December 28 1854 from Sebastopol are published letters written in 1842 defending him from Major-General Charles Napier the Governor General of India Lord Ellenborough and a letter from his Secretary T.H. Maddock. Finally there is an 1855 letter praising England from General Sir George De Lacy Evans.</p><p>The British army officer General Sir Richard England 1793-1883 was born at Fort Detroit at a time when it was part of Upper Canada. In 1841 he took command of the Bombay Army division and was dispatched to the relief of Colonel Palmer at Ghuznee and General Nott at Kandahar. In 1854 he was placed in command of the 3rd Division in the Crimean war.</p> London, 1855. paperback‎

‎Intéressant et rare recueil de pièces diverses datées du 30 floréal an 6 (19 mai 1798), au 30 thermidor, an 7 (17 août 1799), sur l'armée de la méditerranée, Malte et les débuts de la campagne d'Egypte. Chaque partie à sa page de titre, mais la pagination est continue. Le volume s'achève sur le "retour du général Bonaparte en Europe"), on y trouve la Proclamation du Général Bonaparte aux soldats de terre et de mer de l'armée de la Méditerranée, les Lettres écrites au Directoire jusqu'au départ pour Malte et des documents relatifs à la prise de cette île. Puis, dans une seconde partie, la correspondance relative à l'expédition d'Égypte et de Syrie, la relation de la campagne de la Haute Égypte, rédigée à Syouth par le général Desaix, suivie de différentes proclamations du général Bonaparte, aux soldats et aux habitants de l'Égypte. Les deux dernières parties de ce premier volume, contiennent entre autres les lettres du Dyvan, du chérif de La Mecque, du sultan du Darfour, ainsi que les lettres de Bonaparte au Pacha d'Égypte, au chérif et au sultan de La Mecque, au mollah Murad-Radé à Damas etc, et s'achèvent sur le retour de Bonaparte en Europe.
