Ausgabe wurden erstmals die beiden Zusätze, wahrscheinlich von Muralt selbst ausgewählt, beigegeben. - Muralts Schrifen sind zentrale Texte zur schweizerischen Aufklärung. Gespalten in eine Französische und eine Deutsche Sprachgruppe war die Schweiz ohne eigene Identität. Muralt der in seinen Briefen die Identitäten der Franzosen und Engländer vergleicht, kommt zum Schluss, dass sich die Schweiz über die Sprachgruppen hinweg zu einer Einheit definieren muss. Er gilt als eigentlicher Schöpfer des Helvetismus. - Aussenkanten angeplatzt. Das Rückenschild mit grösserer Fehlstelle. Vorsätze stark leimschattig.
