Il précise ...J'ai recommandé particulièrement à l'intendant général de procurer à l'école impériale tous les soulagements que l'urgence des circonstances rendent possibles... Après avoir combattu à Iéna à la tête dun bataillon de grenadiers, Auguste de Prusse fut fait prisonnier à Prenzlow. Libéré en 1807, il contribua à la défaite de Vandamme. Cest pendant sa captivité et les séjours qui lui sont autorisés à Paris quAuguste de Prusse fit la connaissance de Juliette Récamier chez Madame de Staël. De vifs sentiments naissent entre eux, et une promesse écrite de mariage écrite est échangée. Mme Récamier ira jusquà prier son époux de consentir à leur divorce, ce quil refusera. La rupture ne mettra pas un terme à leur relation puisquils continueront de sécrire jusquà la mort du prince.‎
