Per le Feste di Maggio, il Maes pubblicò il Comento all'Invito a Nice del Monti (in 2 parti: Il festino d'agosto 1779; Il diporto e passeggio pubblico nella Villa Borghese) e Leone Vicchi polemizzò sull'interpretazione che aveva dato del Monti, soprattutto sull'ubicazione della festa notturna, in una "Villa Pinciana" (che poteva essere Pal. Borghese in Campo Marzio, Cambalo Borghesiano a Ripetta, Villa Borghese). Nella 2°parte, la "Bandierata, festa romanesca", sono descritti l'origine della festa, l'uso dei tamburi, le gare, con versi tratti dal Meo Patacca del Berneri. [Fossati Bellani I1491].
