Rara e deliziosa veduta di piazza del Popolo, sapientemente delineata da Antonio Acquaroni, dalla parte di porta Flaminia, che abbraccia il panorama dalla nota terrazza del Pincio a via di Ripetta. La rappresentazione è dinamica, sono raffigurati diversi tipi di carrozze, ben distribuite nello spazio semicircolare; a destra, una vivace scene di folklore di balli a suon di tamburelli. Tra gli attenti spettatori adunati, anche due guardie in uniforme, rappresentati di spalle in atteggiamento di riposo. Lo spettacolo richiama l'attenzione di una delle due guardie a cavallo, rivolto di profilo verso il gruppo, mentre un venditore ambulante vende qualcosa ad uomo con una bambina. Nel resto della piazza, diverse persone passeggiano coi loro eleganti abiti, sullo sfondo di distinguono anche due chierici e, più indietro, un uomo tira faticosmente il suo asino. Le sfumature del cielo collocano la scena nelle ore pomeridiane. Veduta tratta dall’opera “Nuova Raccolta delle principali vedute antiche e moderne dell’alma città di Roma e sue vicinane…” edita da Giacomo Antonelli a Roma intorno al 1830.Le tavole dell’opera, furono incise tra il 1825 e il 1829 da diversi incisori.Ciascuna reca il nome dell’incisione, l’indirizzo editoriale e una doppia didascalia in italiano e in francese.Acquaforte, in ottimo stato di conservazione ad opera di Giovanni Acquaroni e Pietro Parboni. He also discusses interior decoration and looks at the practical aspects of water supply, heating and roads. Each type of building required special tools and these are described, using both surviving examples and modern parallels. The Romans constructed many spectacular feats of engineering, producing magnificent monuments such as the Pantheon and Pont du Gard. This book looks at these large-scale public buildings but also at more modest homes and shops. The result is a thorough and systematic examination of Roman building, with over 750 illustrations, including the author's own drawings. Roman Buildings contains a foreword by Professor Michael Fulford.
