Contiene a pagina 33 il frontespizio vero e proprio dell’opera che presenta le note editoriali “Ecloga piscatoria Sicula d. Joannis Meli ... latine reddita a Vincentio Raymundi ... Editio Secunda”. Alla prima carta è presente solo il titolo ma privo delle note editoriali. Rarissima traduzione in dialetto siculo ad opera del noto intellettuale siculo Vincenzo Raimondi di uno dei più celebri carmi del grande poeta siciliano Giovanni Melli che è annoverato tra le cosiddette "quattro coroncine", con Carlo Porta, Carlo Goldoni, Giuseppe Gioachino Belli (da affiancare alle "tre corone" di Dante, Petrarca e Boccaccio). Giovanni Meli nacque in Sicilia nel Settecento, da Antonio di professione orefice e da Vincenza Torriquas, durante la monarchia riformista di Carlo III di Borbone. Raggiunse notorietà in tutt'Italia aderendo ai modi e allo stile dell'Arcadia con una dimensione tutta sua e con l'uso del vernacolo siciliano. Seconda edizione (una prima edizione con la sola traduzione della sola Piscatoria uscì nel 1797 in un libretto di 14 pagine) ma prima edizione completa della traduzione dell’Idyllion (anch’esso tradotto in vernacolo siciliano), con la traduzione in vernacolo di questa importante opera legata alla storia del pensiero letterario siciliano. Edizione assai rara, un solo esemplare censito in ICCU, stampata a Palermo da Solli in bella e curata veste grafica che presenta carte uniformemente brunite (una leggera brunitura più intensa nella metà inferiore delle prime carte, non fastidiosa) in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione.

In 24. Dim. 11,5x6x3 cm. Pp. 480. Rara edizione del 1692 di questa opera destinata al clero scritto da Giuseppe Agostini (1573-1643) nato e morto a Palermo. Agostini insegnò teologia a Lione, Avignone e Palermo. L'opera è una sorta di manuale destinato a coloro che per la prima volta devono confessare i fedeli. Nella prima parte alcune notizie destinate ai seminaristi. Tra gli argomenti trattati: sacramenti, bolla crociata, indulgenze, ordini, matrimonio, precetti della Chiesa, duelli, giochi, censura, irregolarità, coscienza ecc... All'interno un piccolo albero genealogico. Bella legatura in piena pergamena coeva. Titolo manoscritto al taglio inferiore. Prima carta bianca mancante. Opera collazionata e risultata completa. In buone condizioni. Copertina in piena pergamena coeva in buone condizioni generali con lievi usure ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni ma rotture alle pagine di sguardia. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con rare fioriture. Strappo al margine inferiore di pag. 349 con perdita di qualche prozione di lettera. Prima carta bianca mancante. È stata una vera scoperta apprendere come le strade di Palermo, Catania e Trapani, per circa 25 anni, siano state percorse da un gran numero di vetture filoviarie (176 per l'esattezza), vettori inconsapevoli di un servizio pubblico efficiente, economico ed ecologico, come si direbbe oggi, che ha dovuto cedere il passo, nel corso degli anni '60, alla trazione diesel, perché quest'ultima era universalmente ritenuta la sola adeguata alle esigenze dei tempi.L'autore, nonostante abbia deciso di parlare soltanto dei sevizi filoviari esistenti in queste tre città, non trascura di far conoscere ai lettori le notizie necessarie sui servizi tramviari esistenti e sulle autolinee, gestite anche da altre società, che hanno affiancato le filovie durante la loro, purtroppo breve, esistenza.Il volume contiene 29 schemi planimetrici e ben 127 immagini, quasi tutte inedite.

TRE OPERE DI GIUSEPPE PUGLISI rilegate in bella legatura coeva in piena tela viola con titolo e fregi in oro al dorso e bello stemma (probabilmente di Casa Savoia, scudo crociato sormontato da corona e sorretto da due grifoni) impresso a secco al piatto anteriore. Trattasi probabilmente di un volume di presentazione realizzato come dono per qualche personalità importante. Tutte e tre le opere sono seconde edizioni. 16,7x10,4 cm. All’interno in ottimo stato di conservazione. Opere non comuni.<BR><BR>1. ELEMENTI DI ARITMETICA secondo il programma legislativo per le classi elementari inferiori esposti da Giuseppe Puglisi, Premiato con 22 medaglie da varie università ed altri Corpi Scientifici d’Italia; Socio onorario dell’Accademia dei Ragionieri di Bologna e Socio corrispondente della R. Accademia dei Filomati di Lucca. Opera approvata da parecchi Consigli Scolastici e adottata per le scuole comunali di Palermo. Seconda edizione, Palermo, Tip. Di A. Lugaro, 1868. 54, (2) pp. e una c. di tav. fuori testo.Giuseppe Puglisi fu un celebre matematico e avvocato, nato a Palermo nel 1823 e morto nel 1910. Dotato di prodigiose capacità logico-mnemoniche, fu un fanciullo prodigio ed a soli sette anni venne decorato della croce di cavaliere dal Papa Gregorio XVI. Da patriota partecipò alla rivoluzione del '48 e fu costretto all'esilio in Francia e a Malta, dove insegnò matematica ed esercitò la professione di avvocato. Fondò e diresse i giornali “La forbice” e “La Settimana commerciale e industriale”; scrisse numerosi libri divulgativi di matematica e manifestò idee di convinto regionalista.<BR><BR>2. Testimonianza dell?attivita' di Danilo Dolci, sociologo e attivista della nonviolenza che opero' in Sicilia a Borgetto (Palermo) e si impegno' nella creazione della struttura socio assistenziale Borgo di Dio. Il 2 febbraio 1956 ha luogo a Partinico lo sciopero alla rovescia. Alla base c'e' l'idea che, se un operaio, per protestare, si astiene dal lavoro, un disoccupato puo' scioperare invece lavorando. Cosi' centinaia di disoccupati si organizzano per riattivare pacificamente una strada comunale abbandonata; ma i lavori vengono fermati dalla polizia e Dolci, con alcuni suoi collaboratori, viene arrestato. L'episodio suscita indignazione nel Paese, e provoca numerose interrogazioni parlamentari. Dolci venne successivamente scagionato, dopo un processo che ebbe enorme risalto sulla stampa: a difenderlo fu il giurista Piero Calamandrei. Ritorna anche in questa pubblicazione l'eco di un utilizzo dell'immagine fatto da Dolci nel suo primo libro del 1954 (Fare presto e bene?).
