The 42-year-old Hungarian sculptor Arthur Fleischmann came from Java via a small sailboat on Bali. A new and exotic chapter opened for him. Armed with a 35mm camera Dolina and a sensitive eye of an artist, he documented the life, customs and beauty of the Balinese people stuck in more than 1800 pictures. As the threat of war in the Pacific had not been there, he would have remained for the rest of his life on the beautiful and peaceful paradise. Being engaged in sculpting an photograph of the young graceful temple dancers who were his muses. Instead, he escaped to Australia, where he wrote a manuscript preface of his Balinese photos. In this book are sections of this original script presented with the best photos from his collection.‎
