Réfugiée en France après la révolution de Saint-Domingue Laurette-Aimée Mozard s'installe à Châtenay-Malabry et épouse en 1817 le musicien François Nicodim (1758-1829) auquel est consacrée la biographie reliée à la suite. "Cette dame a rédigé quelques ouvrages sans avoir eu la prétention de se faire compter au nombre des femmes auteurs. Elle n'a écrit que pour ses amis et ses connaissances intimes. Ses ouvrages n'ont été tirés qu'à cent exemplaires, et n'ont pas été destinés au commerce" (Quérard, 11, 692). Elle fit pourtant paraître une seconde édition de ces Mémoires en 1858. Ensemble bien relié. Peu courant.
