Dieppe : Tragedy to Triumph
372 pages including black and white photographic plates. A firsthand and revealing critical account of the most controversial battle of World War II which saw 3,000 Canadian infantry killed, wounded or taken prisoner within a few short hours. Was Dieppe necessary? What was Churchill's real intent behind the operation? Did so much sacrifice have a payoff later in the war? Those who fought so courageously at Dieppe are a vital part of the history of Canada's military effort. They are owed long overdue answers to the reasons why. Author won a DSO as an infantry captain fighting on the main beach at Dieppe. This very well-used former library copy has the defects you would expect, but the vital substance remains. Book

Adventures in Cooking: British Columbia B.C. Women's Institutes Centennial Cook Book Cookbook
British Columbia: British Columbia Women's Institutes. Good with No dust jacket as issued. 1958. First Edition. Hardcover. "An adventure in cooking awaits you in the following pages for here are gathered the favourite recipes of good cooks from all parts of our Province. Some of them have come from the 'Old Lands' the British Isles and other parts of Europe some from the United States and other countries around the world some are treasures from the collections of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers and others from generation to generation before there were any written cookbooks memories of the gallant women of yesteryears. These recipes have not been lab tested. Instead their merit rests on the reputation of our British Columbia women as good cooks and able hostesses members of our Women's Institutes and used in their own homes across our province who year after year take so many prizes in our Fairs and Exhibitions. Early settlers gave freely of hospitality and food. Doors were always open to travellers and so we are happy to have the opportunity to compile this Cook Book to mark our part in the Centennial Celebration of our Province." - Foreword. 298 pages.
