A recased exemplar in very good condition ex libris with Library of Congress "surplus duplicate" rubberstamp in red on title page and an older House accession impression in blue. Textblock consists of new endsheet and blank per Heckman Bindery in Indiana two original blanks pp.1-767 followed by a single leaf "Question of Order" complete in itself then Index 1-119 end of text two original blanks followed by binder's blank and free endsheet. The squat thick 8.2x5 inch item is cased into new buckram standard legal-tome color-scheme of red black and dark green labels on tan cloth with lettering and rulings gilt. Further HR stamp impression on top edge. All edges old blanks and every print-block are heavily toned but not fragile has light foxing one blank dog-eared which we've left alone unmarked by humans anywhere except for a few faint pencilled marginal hashmarks. A pressure-wave slightly distorts each leaf but textblock as a whole lies tight and square; a very satisfactory volume. Madison's Presidential message to Congress runs pp.11-22 and is detailed; numerous committees appointed to comply with his directives; regularizing taxation a paramount objective. Content touches on post office numerous petitions land sales organization of the military etc. Printed by William A. Davis hardcover books‎
