Santa Rosa: Press Democrat 1926. Very good. 8pp. Folding pamphlet stapled. Light wear at folds and edges. Slight oxidation around staples. Scarce illustrated pamphlet promoting life in Santa Rosa California during the 1920s. In addition to touting Santa Rosa as the home of Luther Burbank the renowned botanist and agricultural scientist the work espouses the many business opportunities particularly in farming and recreational amenities of the town complete with fulsome statistics and a small map of the region. The promotional is also well-illustrated throughout with photographic reproductions of views of the town various types of agriculture undertaken in the area and depictions of visitors at leisure. Burbank died the same year that this pamphlet was published under the auspices of the town Chamber of Commerce at the press of the local newspaper the Press Democrat. Each issue is devoted to a single subject. Authors were professors from the California State College system. First edition first printing. CALIFORNIA. 6" x 20 1/4" sheet folds to 3 3/8" x 6" color pictorial wrappers 12 panels An uncommon ephemera piece published in collaboration between the California State Chamber of Commerce the California Newspaper Publishers' Association and others the pamphlet featured in a month to month format "Novel and Unique Presentations" to coincide with the Los Angeles 1932 Summer Olympic Games and to entice visitors to the "Fiesta State." It listed a calendar of events and festivities held all through the state and included Pacific Coast Dairy Exposition in Oakland Ski Meet in Portola Mother Lode Rodeo in Sonora Annual $10 000 Open Golf Championship in Los Angeles and many other events. Sacramento: CHA; Western Workers Service Association 1975. Two issues of the crudely printed bulletin one folded for mailing with mailing label on rear cover. Issues present are vol. 3 nos. 1 and 3. CHA was one front for the cult-like National Labor Federation NATLFED in turn the public front of the Communist Party USA Provisional Order of Lenin led by Jerri Doeden who adopted the revolutionary pseudonym Eugenio Perente and a mythical biography to accompany it.
