On view will be one of the few Old Testament cycles to have survived from 16th Century Venice: a remarkable series of four canvases by Palma Giovane circa 1580-81 depicting the Story of Moses. Also from the 16th century are two impressive Italian altarpieces the Annunciation by Siciolante da Sermoneta and the Visitation by Gabriele Caliari the son of Veronese. Among the discoveries presented is Abraham Bloemaert's imposing Lot and His Daughters a signed masterpiece of the artist once in the collection of King Charles II. The earliest work is Raffaellino del Garbo's Madonna and Child a detached fresco painted in Florence in the first years of the fifteenth century. Other sixteenth century Florentine works include Santi de Tito's Holy Family Pulzone's Portrait of Maria de 'Medici and an imposing Portrait of Duke Cosimo I de 'Medici in Armor from the workshop of Agnolo Bronzino. Notable paintings from the Baroque period include A Bravo by the Caravaggesque master Bartolomeo Manfredi Jupiter and Mercury by Giovanni Battista Langetti and works by Pellegrini Gianantonio Guardi and Lorenzo Lippi.<br/>The exhibition will also feature two rare paintings by women. Moderate toning and light wear; some have a 1/8" hole where the document was put on a spindle. The Knights of Honor K. of H. was a fraternal and beneficiary society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries where members paid using a graded assessment rate older members paid a higher price. Garrison-Morton 5749: first report of a procedure capable of preserving the cupid's bow in repair of the lip a critical procedure for the development of cheiloplasty.</p> <p> Simon was one of the foremost German surgeons of the nineteenth century. The above two-part work contains reports on surgical cases handled at the Rostock Hospital where Simon was professor of surgery over the five-year period between 1861 and 1865. The first part titled "Summarische Berichte . . . Chirurgische Mittheilungen mit Beschreibung interessanterer Krankheitsfälle" contains among other things Simon's report of the cure by incision and double puncture of two large abdominal tumors caused by the parasite Echinococcus. The second part devoted to plastic surgery contains reports on plastic operations of the mouth vagina and rectum including the lip operation cited above and an account of plastic operations on the vaginal wall between the rectum and genital canal. The era of modern urological surgery began in 1869 when Gustav Simon performed the first carefully planned nephrectomy; his patient was a woman suffering from ureterovaginal fistula caused by a botched ovariotomy. After writing a brief two-page notice of the operation in 1870 see G-M 4213 Simon prepared a detailed illustrated account which he published as Volume I of his Chirurgie der Nieren. This volume contains two lithographed plates the first a schematic drawing of the patient's injury and the second an unusually artistic rendition probably from a photograph of the postoperative patient standing in front of a mirror displaying her surgical scars. </p> <p>The second volume of Chirurgie der Nieren issued five years after the first deals with the subject of kidney surgery in general discussing operations on both injured and diseased kidneys. This volume over three times as long as its predecessor contains seven plates three in color showing a gunshot injury to the kidney renal calculus and hypertrophy and pre- and post-operative pictures of a case of hydronephrosis successfully cured by surgery.
