"Robert Vaughn served in the Enlisted Reserve Corps in 1942 and later in the Army Air Corps Cadet Program. After completing Cadet flight training he graduated as a Flight Officer Multi-Engine Pilot from Moody Field Georgia on 8 September 1944. He was assigned to B-24s and was sent to the Pacific on 16 July 1945 where he served with the 43rd Bomb Group of the 5th Air Force in the Philippines and on le Shima. At the end of the hostilities he was transferred to occupation duty in C-46 Curtiss Combat Cargo Group and later transferred to the 317th Troop Carrier Group. He served occupation duty in Yokota and Tachikawa Japan." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - very minor edge wear tiny sticker pull on front cover. . Soft Cover. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured illustration to the front panel. Illustrated dustwrapper with black and blue coloured titles to the front panel. "U. S. Air Power now making itself felt over Germany and Occupied Europe as well as in North Africa and the Far East is here analysed in considerable detail by the author of "Warfare in the Air". The book contains many fine action photos of Flying fortresses Liberators and other machines." -- from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening and rubbing to the backstrip edges with rubbing to the book corners. A few marks to the cloth of the board's. Browning of the endpapers but only like age toning of the pages. Gift inscription to the free front end paper. Some dog earing of the lower right-hand corner of the pages. Chipping to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges and there is a piece missing from the top left-hand corner of the front panel. Creasing and rubbing to the dustwrapper edges with rubbing and marking of the panels. Small hole to the backstrip and there are other small punctures of the front panel backstrip and rear panel. Short tears. Also present to the dustwrapper edges. Browning to the verso with some staining. A 2" tear to the lower front fold over crease. Size: 4to 9�" - 12" tall. 4 5-7 1 pages.
