A small attractive volume of the poetical works of Horace; an uncommon edition edited by Karl Hermann Weise and bound in full vellum. A later edition of this work in a full vellum binding with decorative gilt to the spine and marbled end papers. Ink inscription to the first blank page and to the title page. A collection of the best known poetical works of the Roman satirist Horace in the original Latin edited by Karl Hermann Weise. 'Odes' is a collection of four books of lyric poems by Horace originally published in 23 BC and 13 BC. The odes are written in an imitation of the short lyrical poems written by the Greek poets Sappho Pindar and Alcaeus. They cover a range of subjects including religion wine patriotism love friendship and morality. This particular version edited by Karl Hermann Weise is becoming uncommon. In a full vellum binding. Externally very smart with only a couple of small marks to the front board. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages. Detroit: Hudson Motor Car Company 1915. Paperback. Very Good. Unpaginated. Owners/service manual for Hudson Motor Cars intended for mechanics and owners of early Hudson automobiles. Quality and condition are remarkably good considering the age and purpose of the book. Paper covers show moderate edge wear but no tears. Cloth spine is worn at corners with a small open tear but otherwise fully intact; no separation from binding. Binding is tight. Pages darkened where a bookmark and paperclip were placed bumped at corners. All pages intact and largely unmarked save one of six included inspection cards filled out in July 1915. Manual contains associated ephemera pictured: "New York State General Highway Traffic Law 1917" and "Hudson Owners' Bulletin Number 20." Fascinating artifact for the early automobile enthusiast! The Terraplane was a car brand and model built by the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit Michigan between 1932 and 1938. In its maiden year the car was branded as the Essex-Terraplane; in 1934 the car became simply the Terraplane.
