Non comune prima ed unica edizione. Splendido esemplare in barbe. L’opera contiene il primo accenno al karma della religione buddista. Bibl: Antologia Vieusseux, n. 51, 2011, E. G. Bargiacchi, la nascita degli studi tibetani, pp. 5 - 32: Ippolito Desideri aveva affrontato non solo la lingua tibetana, ma anche le concezioni filosofiche centrali del buddhismo, redigendo «quella Relazione del Tibet che – come disse Giuseppe Tucci – per la sua profondità e diligenza resiste all’urto dei secoli e al perfezionarsi della indagine»; Le acquisizioni desideriane furono partecipate direttamente ad alcuni studiosi del tempo e di ciò resta qualche traccia; possiamo ricordare una delle prime segnalazioni della legge buddhista del karma che, nelle parole del teologo domenicano Tommaso Vincenzo Moniglia, portava a ritenere «quell’infedeli che le virtù e i vizj, per un’intrinseca forza materiale tirassero le anime in quei luoghi diversi [«di gastigo» e «di gaudio»] ad esse proporzionati». Questa legge, che indica «una specie […] di meccanica necessità» (p. 89), viene riferita dal Moniglia come sentita da Desideri, «Pistojese Missionario del Tibet» (p. 90).
