Color bird's-eye view pictorial map 6 1/4 x 24 1/2 inches 13 black and white vignette photo illustrations and text on verso folding into 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inch color pictorial paper mailing wrappers softbound. The map is in fine condition but detached from the wrappers. There is wear and edge chipping to the wrappers. An extraordinary piece of Japanese-inspired propaganda featuring a bright and colorful vintage map with rail lines and airlines marked. Text on the verso of the mailer reads in part: "Progressing Manchoukuo. With racial harmony and Wangtao rule as its great ideals the State of Manchoukuo was founded on March 1st 1932. The establishment of Manchoukuo was of ephochal significance not only in the history of the Orient but also of the world for it changed Manchuria known up till then as the "powder magazine of the Far East" into one of the cornerstones of Oriental peace freed the forgotten masses of the territory from the ruthless extortion and oppression of the warlord regime of the Changs and heralded the debut of a new and enlightened regime pledged to the noble tasks of building a land of peace promise and prosperity."
