Dos à nerfs, nom d'auteur et titre en caractères d'imprimerie frappés en doré séparés d'un tiret doré, frises dorées à motif triangles en coiffe et queue, trace de colle à étiquette et mention "Mario" en doré en queue. Plats marbrés. Tranchefile. Issu d'une bibliothèque japonaise, marques de bibliothèque à la garde de couleur avec tampons en japonais. Page de titre. Sans introduction ni préface, le chap. 1 faisant office d'introduction. Appendice sur l'origine de la féodalité au Japon et table des matières en fin d'ouvrage. Diplomate et voyageur, Joseph Dautremer (1860-1946) a appris le chinois et le japonais à l'École orientale des langues vivantes de Paris avant de commencer une carrière diplomatique comme interprète à Bangkok. Après un intérêt marqué pour la Chine, cet ami de Paul Claudel commence à se concentrer sur le Japon, auquel il consacre plusieurs monographies dans les années 1910. Chez nos alliés japonais constitue une introduction à l'histoire de l'archipel et à sa vie contemporaine de l'époque. Frottement à la charnière avant, chasses frottées, traces de réparation aux premières pages. Marges et papier jaunis comme de coutume pour un livre de cet âge sur papier courant. À part ces défauts, bon état, reliure solide et bien complet.
