‎Un volume grand in-8°, reliure rigide éditeur cartonnée toilée de couleur bleu-foncé avec une jaquette vert-clair représentant un rouleau qui, déroulé, fixe les règles de conduit et de morale destinées au Prince héritier Sado). L’ouvrage compte 543 pages suivies de 18 planches en couleurs. Il s’agit , comme le dit le titre, d’une étude consacrée à un ensemble de règles protocolaires établies pour la dynastie LI, laquelle régna sur la COREE de 1392 à 1910. Ces règles étaient inscrites et décrites sur 297 rouleaux conservés à la Bibliothèque Nationale de France où l’auteur PARK Byeng-Sen réussit à les re-découvrir et à les étudier dans les années 1975. Dans cet ouvrage, elle décrit donc, dans le détail, 191 de ces rouleaux, dont certains (58), richement illustrés en couleurs et destinés à l’usage privé du Roi sont des documents uniques d’un immense intérêt .Rappelons le fait que ces archives royales coréennes furent prises aux Coréens lors d’une expédition militaire française faisant suite aux persécutions et supplices dont furent victimes de très nombreux chrétiens coréens et leurs prêtres, ainsi que plusieurs missionnaires français de l’ordre des Missions Etrangères. L’expédition militaire française, lancée en 1866 après le supplice et la mise à mort de 3 nouveaux missionnaires (s’ajoutant à 6 dans les années précédentes), fut un échec. Les marins de l’Amiral Roze ne réussirent pas à “finaliser” leur expédition punitive, une expédition mal préparée face à des adversaires trop vaillants. Finalement les Français se retirèrent en détruisant une forteresse défendant l’accès à la capitale SEOUL, forteresse abritant, entre autres trésors, une bibliothèque où étaient rangés ces fameux rouleaux. Frappé par leur beauté, devinant leur intérêt, l’Amiral Roze les fit emporter en France où ils furent remis à la Bibliothèque Imperiale entant que “Biens Nationaux”. Or il faut savoir que le droit français considère -à juste titre, il faut le dire (sauf exception)-, les biens nationaux comme des biens inaliénables. C’est pourquoi l’Etat français, quand l’existence de ces rouleaux (que l’on croyait perdus), fut redécouverte, s’opposa farouchement, pendant plusieurs dizaines d’années, aux demandes de restitution insistantes présentées par la COREE. Il en résulta une vive tension entre les deux pays car la COREE arguait du fait indéniable qu’ils avaient été pillés par la FRANCE sans aucune raison légale valable, en tout cas sans déclaration de guerre justifiée. En effet l’Etat coréen s’était toujours opposé, par des lois connues internationalement, à l’entrée d’étrangers sur son sol, ce qui s’appliquait particulièrement aux missionnaires d’une religion étrangère, on s’en doute. Du coup, l’acte des troupes françaises emportant en FRANCE cet ensemble de rouleaux royaux ne pouvait être considéré que comme un vulgaire pillage, comme une sorte de razzia…Ce n’est qu’en 2010 , à l’occasion d’une réunion du G20 à SEOUL, présidée par Nicolas SARKOZY, qu’une solution fut trouvée au problème de l’inaliénabilité: ces précieux rouleaux furent remis au Coréens, non pas comme une restitution pure et simple mais comme un prêt de cinq ans renouvelable...Exemplaire rare et en TRES BON ETAT.‎
