[LIEBERENZ, PAUL] (PHOTOGRAPHER) / [HEDIN, SVEN]:
[A collection of 33 original photographs taken during Hedin's Sino-Swedish expedition in 1927-1928].
The collection comprises 30 albumen photographs of varies sizes between 12-14 cm x 8 -10 cm and 3 photographs measuring 18 x 13 cm. Annotations and numbers in pencil on verso of some of the photos. Kept in a special made paper covered box. The photographs were taken during Sven Hedin's expedition to inner Mongolia 1927-28 by the official photographer and camera man Paul Lieberenz. He also made a film during the expedition. Some of the photos are reproduced in Hedin's work "Åter till Asien" and in Berger's work "Mit Sven Hedin durch Asiens wüsten". The photos give a good impression of this kind of expedition travelling through endless obscure landscapes of desert and over barren mountain passes. Many of them depict caravans of camels and horse carriages. Others picture camp life and animals at water passes; one of a Chinese village in the north; one of a killed buffalo, etc. Lieberenz and Berger: Mit Sven Hedin durch Asiens Wüsten. Berlin 1932.
