While the jacket has its price on the front flap .75! it has general wear all over loss and small chipping at some edges especially along spine top. An uncommon early reprint of one of Louise Jordan Miln's popular novels set in China 'Rice' revolving around the relationship and sacrifices of a mother and daughter. An early reprint of this uncommon work. Dated 1931 from the titles listed to the wraps and in the book with 'The Vintage of Yon-Yee' being the latest novel by Miln listed to the rear wrap and to the reverse of the half-title which was published in 1931.In the original unclipped dust wrapper.'Rice' is a touching tale set in China following the sacrifice of a daughter's who gives ten years of her life for her mother's desire to taste white rice only once.Written by Louise Jordan Miln an American novelist and actress whose other publications include the travel memoirs 'When We Were Strolling Players in the East' and 'Quaint Korea' and many novels. In the original publisher's cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally smart. A little discolouration to the boards. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Dust wrapper is a little edge worn with some loss to the head of the spine and some small closed tears. Front joint is worn and torn. Some spots to the reverse of the wraps and a little discolouration to the wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age toned and clean. Very Good Hodder and Stoughton hardcover

Dust jacket not price clipped but small part of corners are clipped with only faint shelf wear and with a couple of tears and very small holes in the back see photos. Protected by a Mylar cover. In original unclipped jacket in a protective sheet with minor toning corner chipping small chipping at the head and tail of the spine and a few closed tears generally very good - see photos. Bound in yellow cloth over boards with bold black lettering on the front and spine. Minor toning to edges slight pushing at head of the spine solid and square. The interior is clean clear and crisp with very light and even age toning. Overall a very good to near fine copy of this first edition. <br /> <br /> Pages: 10 356 Dimensions: 75/8 x 5¼ x 1½.
