Essa si proponeva un duplice scopo: esplorare il grande ghiacciaio Rimu, nel Karakorum orientale, e raccogliere il maggior numero possibile di informazioni geofisiche, geologiche, metereologiche e, in via subordinata, anche naturalistiche, su quella regione. Entrambi gli scopi furono brillantemente raggiunti. Al D. fu lasciata libertà di movimento: con l'amico Marinelli, che l'aveva raggiunto, poté compiere escursioni al di fuori dell'itinerario principale della spedizione, esplorando un'area assai più ampia e giungendo, sulla via del ritorno, fino al Tien Shan”. History and architecture.= Masjid Vazîr Khân, Lâhaur kâ tafsîlî aksî mutala'ah. "Before the construction of the Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore, the largest mosque in the city was the Begam Shahi Majid, which was built in 1613 by emperor Jahangir in memory of his mother Maryam Zamani on the eastern side of Lahore Fort. Another congregational mosque in the heart of the city was badly needed. This was built by Wazir Khan in 1634 during the reign of Shah Jahan. It is situated just inside Delhi Gate and is built on the site of the ancient shrine of Shaikh Ishaq Gazruni (d. 1386). The mosque is a great architectural achievement. Several early European scholars realised its importance as a glowing example of Muslim architecture and the embellishment on its walls attracted particular attention. This paper is a contribution to Birûnî's one of the major works in Arabic titled "Al-Qânûn al-Masûdî", a treatise calendars devoted to calendars and chronology. The chapter begins with a definition of the Saka Era. Birûnî then states two rules, the first for converting a date given in one of the three calendars common in the countries of medieval Islam into the equivalent Indian date, the second for performing the inverse operation, conversion from an Indian into a Western date. The epochs of the Arkand Zij (the Khandakhâdyaka and the Kaliyuga are given in this, the hierarchies of periods used in Indian chronology are defined, and the astronomical parameters assembled by us in Section 2 below are presented..."
