Original typescript letter signed by Vedat Nedim T�r to an unnamed recipient including an invitation that the new place of the new publishing house of Hayat Dogan Kardes Printing House located in Municipality Klodfarer Street and a meeting on Turkish theater on March 11 1954. Dated I.III.1954. 21x17 cm. In Turkish. 1 p. "Hayat" i.e. Life magazine letterhead. Vedat Nedim T�r was born in the city of Istanbul in 1897. He was the son of Ahmet Nedim Servet T�r. He attended Galatasaray High School and completed his higher education at the University of Berlin. Having taken his Ph.D. in economics he returned to Turkey. He served as the director at the Ankara State Radio and Directorate General of Press and Information. His writings were published in the newspapers Cumhuriyet and Vatan. Vedat Nedim among the founders of Istanbul and Ankara State Radios also served as a culture and art consultant for Yapii Kredi Bank and Akbank. Among the stage plays he scripted were Issizler 1924 K�r 1935 Degisen Adam 1941 Hep ve Hi� 1951 and Halici Kiz 1975. Many of his theatre scripts were staged by several theater companies. Further his play Halici Kiz was adapted to the silver screen by Muhsin Ertugrul in 1953. It includes eight lines, a new year celebration sent to Turkish architect Cengiz Bektas, (1934-2020) and his wife Gönül Bektas. With an extra autograph note. Vera Tulyakova was born in 1932 in Moscow. He graduated from the Gerasimov Cinema Institute, Script Department. Later he worked as a redactor in the animation department of the cinema studio. After marrying Nazim Hikmet, she worked as a reporter at Agency Novosti.

The intense autobiography of a cosmopolitan Jew born in Istanbul at the beginning of the 20th century, a time when people from all over the world were converging upon the city, enticed by the allure and diversity of its cultural milieu. The flavor and perfume of this vibrant metropolis pervades the account of his lively youth during which he was educated at local German and English schools. He went on to travel throughout Europe during the 1920s settling in Vienna and later in Italy. With the advent of World War II, Victor moved to London and was engaged by the British Intelligence Corps, where his undercover work took him back again to Istanbul and also to Cairo. The contrasts of these years of espionage and his fulfilling familial life as an antiques dealer in Milan are recounted in this engaging memoir in which the author's broad-minded and cultivated humanity radiates through every page. 100 copies were printed.
