Introduction Journal inédit du voyage en Egypte d'Adolphe Crémieux, et Lettres de Salomon Munk. Epilogue. Isaac-Jacob Adolphe Crémieux, né le 30 avril 1796 à Nîmes et mort le 10 février 1880 à Paris, est un avocat, un responsable de la franc-maçonnerie et un homme politique français. Il est l'auteur du décret Crémieux d'octobre 1870 qui attribue la citoyenneté française aux « israélites indigènes » d'Algérie. Il est l'ami de l'abbé Grégoire dont il fait l'éloge funèbre. Salomon Munk est un érudit du judaïsme franco-allemand du xixe siècle (Gross Glogau, le 14 mai 1803 - Paris, le 5 février 1867). Parmi ses nombreuses contributions à l'orientalisme, on lui doit en particulier l'édition, à partir des manuscrits arabes, du grand ouvre de Moïse Maïmonide, le Guide des Égarés (Moreh Nevoukim), qu'il publia en 3 volumes à partir de 1856.
