Bursali Ismail Hakki was appointed sheikh of the Celvedi Tekle in Bursa. In addition to practicing hat, he penned countless works on Tasavvuf, Islamic philosophy, morality and Tefsir. In most of his works Ismail Hakki wrote in the style of Yunus Emre. Rare.

A huge selection of Ottoman-era magazines such as "Servet-i Fünun," "Asri Türkiye Mecmuasi," and Republican-era daily papers including "Cumhuriyet," "Milliyet," "Medan," "Baris" and "Aksam," as well as news and comments about Turkey in the international media such as The New York Times and National Geographic are open for visitors. Four curious men came together to tell the story of a lost railway in Istanbul. At first all they had were small trains a handful of coal and a breath of steam. Years passed and they learnt a great deal from the documents and albums they had found and from a fifth author of a notebook that had come from the past and joined them by chance. The small trains carrying coal to the heart of the city from a coal mine in the Black Sea coast of Istanbul, were not just heroes of a nostalgic tale. Behind the curtain we opened, there was a huge military project where 5000 people had worked once in sweat and tears. We do not recount anything more or less than what we saw. We wish that those who read the story and see the photos are able to come into contact with history with the same amazement admiration and pleasure that we have. This album was published within the framework of the 40th anniversary commemoration of the OIC, which has the problem of al-Quds and Palestine as its foremost cause. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the OIC, wrote the Foreword. As he mentions, preservation of the multicultural character of the city with due respect of the populations and the shrines of each faith is an indispensable part of any acceptable solution of the problem. This character is well reflected in the authentic photographs in the album. Due to its special importance, al-Quds/Jerusalem was visited and described by many travelers. Then, the region became the first place of interest of the pioneer photographers. The Ottoman Palace was among the first in the world to acquire photographs of the region. The Yildiz photograph collection which was formed during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II contains a large number of them. The album contains the reproductions of 405 photographs gathered from IRCICA's archive comprising the Yildiz Photograph Albums and several other collections.

In this exhibition of more than fifty works chosen from a variety of public institutions and private collections spanning the era from the Mesrutiyet / Second Constitution through the Republic, a voyage through the years was embarked upon, during which, the Turkish art of painting underwent a movement towards contemporaneity, within the framework of an exceptional and extremely meaningful theme, a reinterpretation of the transformation of the image of 'women'.

During the summer of 1995 Turkish archaeologists discovered a unique Late Classical tomb in the Western Necropolis of Assos. A modestly designed cist grave, Tomb 4 surprised excavators with the richest cache of grave goods ever found at the ancient city. The 62 well-preserved artifacts, which date from the 4th century BCE, when Aristotle's school of philosophy was active at Assos, consist of terracotta figurines, gold and bronze jewelry, and vases. The variety of the coroplastic group is especially striking. The types include seated female musicians and a poet, an oklasma-dancer, comic actors, goddesses, a horse-rider, a warrior, female mask protomes, miniature furniture, various animals, and a figurine vase. The main purpose of this publication is to examine the finds from Tomb 4 and to shed light on characteristics of coroplastic produc-tion and socio-cultural life at Assos during its "Golden Age" through a contextual, typological, and iconographical analysis of the terracotta figurines. The variety of the figurines not only gives clues about the identity of the tomb-owners, but also hints at the many aspects of the "Golden Age" of Assos, such as the fertility cults active in the city, the increasing importance of the theatre, the place of women in socio-religious life, and the commercial and cultural relations of Assos with the neighbouring cities, especially Athens.
