[i.e. The dethronement of the Grand Turk: With the relation of this terrible revolution, in which the grand visir was strangled with several other ministers, and the story of a fire that happened at the same time, which reduced 2000 houses to ashes].
Very Good French Original leaflet on a folded bifolium. Size: 20 x 16 cm; open size: 20 x 32 cm. In French. [3] p. Slight foxing and stains on paper, some chippings on folded traces and extremities. Overall a good copy. This extremely rare proclamation on the Patrona Halil Rebellion and the fire following the rebellion in 1730 within the Ottoman Empire, written to those living in France, especially Paris residents, was approved by Herault on 21 November 1730. The Patrona Halil Rebellion was a social uprising within the Ottoman Empire, which ended the so-called Tulip period and catapulted Sultan Mahmud I to the throne. The rule of this Sultan and the time until the 1760s was the last period of stability for the Ottoman Empire, as evidenced by the Belgrade Peace Treaty. The Ottoman Empire did not participate in the Seven Years' War, but the defeat in the Russo-Turkish War (1768-1774) destabilized it so that it could never again regain its previous stability. This printed rare leaflet details how this revolt started, and what its causes and consequences were. It is stated that the number of people who participated in this revolt, which was aggravated with the Janissaries not getting their salaries for an extended period of time, reached 100,000, the grand vizier and his grooms were strangled, and many people including officials and civilians died during the events. It is also stated that the news about the events in Istanbul was confirmed by Prince Alexander of Wirttemberg, who came from Vienna to Belgrade. Only one copy is located in Bibliotheque Nationale de France in OCLC: 460213436. The complete original text in French: "De cette terrible Revolution, dans laquelle le Grand Visir a ete etrangle evec plusieurs autres Ministres , & le recit d'une Incendie arrivee dans le meme-tems, qui a reduit 2000 masions en cendre. Hifzi Mehmed Efendi was a Turkish / Ottoman poet and scholar who lived in 19th century. He was born in Edirne Adrianople. There is not much information about his life and date of birth. He studied Quran and took lessons from famous scholars of the period. Madrasah was educated. He became a professor at a time and gave lessons in Enderun. He studied many ancient Greek Arabic Persian Avicenna and Al-Biruni's scientific works. Hifzi Mehmet Efendi has produced many works like Diwan M�nsheat Amal al-Salihat Manzuma al-durub al-amsal. Ebcioglu mentions his article which would be published in 'Hayat' [i.e. Life] magazine and he thanks Zorlutuna. He started journalism in Vakit newspaper in 1927. He worked for various newspapers. He worked as an announcer and reporter at Ankara Radio. He won the Burhan Felek Press Service Award in 1984.

Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original hand-drawing and hand-coloured cloth bdg. with anchor drawing. 16mo .(13 x 8 cm). In Ottoman script. [218] p., 2 hand-drawing ills. (a mosque and a ship). Used pen and pencils during the notebook. Notes written between the years of 1926-1930. Full; only several pages are blank. Signatures on first pages and cover. Starting date is September, 11, 1926. Notebook mostly includes his lecture and personal notes on navigation. Some of chapters: It starts with an epigraph by Doris (?). Notes from fantastic realms (wonders of the world): Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Colossus of Rhodes, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, etc. and their descriptions.; There are his course scores section in the name of 'Müzakere notlari'.; Navigation history notes.; His exam dates.; Diary for some days showing naval education in early Republican Turkey and some personal notes.; Some poems.; 'Beginning English for the Levant'.; Morse Alphabet with Ottoman script, etc. Cloth margins slightly rubbed, no missing. There is original pen pocket of note book, however its pen is missing. Some pages designed as an alphabetical index personally by writer. Otherwise it's a very good manuscript. No information on Hikmet Sakir.

HIKMET TURHAN DAGLIOGLU, (Turkish author), (1900-1977).
A collection of four autograph letters signed 'Hikmet Turhan Daglioglu' with his business card, sent to Turkish poetess Halide Nusret Zorlutuna, (1901-1984).
Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript unpublished four autograph letters signed (ALS) by Hikmet Turhan Daglioglu to Halide Nusret Zorlutuna, (1901-1984), who was a Turkish poetess, and his husband Aziz Vecihi Zorlutuna who was a Turkish soldier. Three letters in Ottoman script, one is in modern Turkish with Latin letters. Dated 1943 with different periods of this year. Full. Approx. 20 lines on each paper. Daglioglu was a Turkish author, intellectual, museologist, specialist on Aleppo history, and deputy of Antalya city. A greetings content about his promotion to brigadier general in one letter which was written to Halide Nusret's husband, and interesting literary discussions on other three letters to Halide Nusret.

A study on the Menemen Incident (= [Mustafa Fehmi] Kubilay Olayi) refers to a chain of incidents which occurred in Menemen, a small town in the Aegean region of Turkey, on 23 December 1930. It is commemorated every year by the state and Turkish Army. Following the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, the Republican People's Party of Turkey pursued a somewhat liberal policy towards Islam, promoting secularism while not taking a hard line against Islamic institutions and practices, believing that the secularism of their ideology was already taking root. This confidence was shaken on 23 December 1930, when Dervish Mehmed Efendi, a member of the Naqshbandi order, created a disturbance by rallying a crowd against secular government and calling for the restoration of Islamic rule and the Caliphate. A contingent of Turkish forces from the local garrison was sent to quell the demonstration. One of the soldiers opened fire on the demonstrators and a fight started. The crowd then beheaded the leader of the contingent, Lieutenant Mustafa Fehmi Kubilay, and placed his severed head on a pole with a green flag before parading through town with it.

It explores two cases of collective apology in Turkey, "I Apologize" online signature campaign in 2008, and an apology speech carried out by a state official on the Dersim massacre in 2011. Both events raised significant public debate in Turkish society. Taking these two recent cases of collective apology and looking at them through the lens of existing scholarship on collective apology, this thesis explores the answers to a set of questions; on the format, wording and enactment of the apologies and their dealing with the issues of responsibility, and reconciliation.

The arms collection of Topkapi Palace was prepared for the purpose of presenting to the readers The Arms of Collection of the Topkapi Palace Museum, where some of the rarest examples of these works of art are on display, as a whole along with an analysis of its fundamental attributes". Covering 1,300 years and consisting of 52,000 weapons of Arab, Umayyad, Abbasid, Mamluk, Persian, Turkish, Crimean Tartar, Indian, European, and Japanese origin, the Topkapi Palace Museum's weaponry collection is also among the world's premier weapons collections. The collection is made up in part of weapons transferred from the cebehâne and those used by the palace guards; however, the collection's most noteworthy section consists of those weapons ordered by the sultan personally or specially made as gifts for him, which weapons are a part of the palace's private collection. This collection includes weaponry owned by such sultans as Mehmed II, Bayezid II, Selim the Grim, Suleiman the Magnificent, Selim II, Mehmed II, and Ahmed I, as well as the weapons of such high-level dignitaries as grand viziers, pashas, and palace chamberlains; all of these weapons are eye-catching with their fine craftsmanship and decorations.
