Fra' Pacifico, al secolo Guglielmo Divini (Lisciano, 1158 ca. ? Pas-de-Calais, 1234), fu uno dei primi e pi? stretti compagni di S. Francesco e fu anche il primo ministro francescano a portare il verbo del Poverello in Francia; prima di convertirsi a Francesco, fu uno dei pi? grandi autori di poesie del suo tempo, tanto da essere incoronato "Re dei versi" dall'imperatore.

GAZETTE de littérature.
Le premier article relate une anecdote survenue à la cour d'Angleterre. Un « Sauvage de l'isle d'Otaïty » y avait été présenté au Roi, non sans avoir été auparavant longuement instruit d'un compliment qu'il devait faire mais qu'il ne put restituer « le pauvre Sauvage avait tout oublié ». Selon l'auteur de l'article, il reconnut alors dans l'assistance l'explorateur Joseph Banks « qu'il avait vu dans son isle et l'aborda avec les signes de la plus grande satisfaction ».

Tre ritratti femminili. Tre raffinati ritratti a mezzobusto eseguiti con la tecnica del pastello e dell'acquerello, firmati in basso "Sidoli Pacifico", senza data ma 1915-20. Perfetti esemplari. (7086)
Pacifico Sidoli fu autore assai versatile, di buon nome non solo come ritrattista ma anche come pittore di paesaggi, realizzati a olio, a pastello o all'acquerello. Trasferitosi giovanissimo da Piacenza, sua città natale, a Parigi, si distinse anche in quella capitale, ove fu ammesso ben presto ai Salons, esponendo in varie altre città d'Europa con buon successo. Come lui, anche i due fratelli minori Nazzareno e Giuseppe si distinsero nel campo artistico-pittorico. 1 e 2. Ritratto di fanciulla sorridente, in due pose diverse. Due pastelli eseguiti su cartoncino bruno, ciascuno di cm. 54 x 35. La graziosa modella inclina vezzosamente il capo, nel primo ritratto con un nastro nero a trattenerle i capelli che nel secondo sono invece sciolti. Euro: 1.500 3. Ritratto di fanciulla bionda. Acquerello su cartoncino giallino. Cm. 58 x 40. Una bella fanciulla dai grandi occhi azzurri e coi lunghi capelli a onde, tiene una mano appoggiata alla scollatura adornata da un nastro rosa. San Francisco: Thomas Houseworth & Co 1870. Single stereocard 3½ x 7 inches. Stereo image mounted onto printed orange cardstock. Slight wear at edges. Very good. Single stereocard 3½ x 7 inches. A very attractive single stereocard image of the Central Pacific Railroad's "Long Ravine Trestle Bridge." The bridge is located in Nevada County California in the Sierra Nevada mountain range just west of the Nevada state line. The image comes from a set sixty-two stereocards created by Thomas Houseworth & Company for the railroad some time after the railroads completion in 1869. According to the website of the Central Pacific Railroad www.cprr.org the Houseworth company produced more than one hundred such stereocards for the railroad including more than a dozen views of the 878-foot long Trestle Bridge. A nice early stereoscopic image of an engineering wonder from an important American railroad. Thomas Houseworth & Co unknown

An appealing stereocard image showing several long stretches of railroad track heading into the small town of Ogden Utah. It is a view of an important point crossing point in American railroad history as Ogden is the point at which the Union Pacific Railroad ends and the Central Pacific begins. A train can be seen on the tracks in the far distance as well as a few clapboard buildings. The New York photographic firm of E. & H.T. Anthony & Co. produced several stereoscopic views for the Central Pacific Railroad though few are known today. A nice image of an important railroad intersection. E. & H.T. Anthony & Co unknown

Coxe made suggestions which led the Russians to promote expeditions of discovery to the northern parts of Siberia.
