‎Letter from the Secretary of the Treasury Accompanying a report of the Solicitor of the Treasury relative to the claim of the Choctaw Indians known as the "Net Proceeds Claim." 42d Congress 2d Session. Ex. Doc. No. 87. Senate‎

‎No Place: No Publisher. Pamphlet. Good. No publisher place or date. Presumed Government Printing Office Washington 1872. Pamphlet disbound from a larger work and lacking and wrappers originally issued. 5 pp. plus 2 blank leaves at the rear. A short piece recalling the various points of an 1820 treaty between the United States and the Choctaw Indians as well as subsequent treaties and claims arising from the treaty and its apparent lack of enforcement by the US government. The original treaty gave members of the Choctaw tribe who chose to become citizens of the United States a parcel of land. However it appears most of those Native Americans were not given land in exchange for their agreements and were instead driven off the land. This document sums up financial claims and what the potential course of action of the US government would be including not paying the claims. GOOD condition. Creasing and chipping at the corners. General toning. Minor curling. Fore edge and spine a bit rough and chipped. No Publisher unknown‎
